thanks f4u, but it wasn't a drag chute, it was the tailhook, it came out of the tail cone like on wildcats, it was changed to being integral with the tailwheel on the production run.
You need to do your research again on this. The prototype XF4U did have a chute. It was a drag chute used for spin recovery. If the plane was to get into an unrecoverable spin then the chute would be deployed and the aiplane recovered. I have a book that shows the drag chute deployed from the XF4U while sitting on the ground. So this business about a hook like the Wildcats is questionable.

Shupack,
Juice Maidened his Corsair last weekend. Dion is building his 2nd Corsair. We have to get ours in the air

AND my finished Corsair will fly, my club just has some flying site issues. I'm going to have to take a drive to a paved club field is all. I know you guys think I have a hangar queen, you'll see!

Nice to see ya in the threads again Shupack, I noticed you are back in the States, right in the center! Lets see that Corsair done, that thing will almost be as unique as my F2G!

In the Wing Joining section, Sec 2, it says to sand the center le and te to match tip le and te, does anyone have a close up picture of this? I thought the le and te of the wing are rounded off, is this not correct?

I'll have mine done someday, but i'm thinking next season. I just bought a house, so repairs on it are first in line, nothing major, just time consuming, and expensive, yadda yadda, yadda....

Thanks for the support guys, I'm anxious to get going again, but first things first. Luke, I picked this one for her originality, but it won't be anywhere near your quality, you have inspired me to build another one though (and i'm nowhere near finised with this one!)

I had PM'd him last summer and the plane was on hold. Shupack's last login was 10/06 Hope he is doing well.

I"m alive and well, thanks for the concern..

the prototype has been on the back burner for over 4 years, I'm starting to feel bad about it. I don't see it getting finished anytime in the near future. We're moving this week and I came across the box, still in the same condition, waiting patiently....

I "fell" into a small business about 2 years ago and it's been taking all my free time that I'm not spending with my 3 little kids, I'm getting ready to go full-time with it and quit the day-job so I doubt I'll touch the prototype this year (except for re-packing and moving it).

I'm considering donating her to someone that will finish and fly her, anyone interested? (you have to prove you'll give her a good home...Dion, you out there?..)

I'll finish and fly her, but it may be a while. I first have to finish my P-40. But if no one else wants her, I'll throw my hat in the ring.

OMG

Glad to hear your doing well. I remember when you had one child. Parenting is about having more than one child[X(]

Hope your move goes well and good luck with the business. Consider keeping and finishing the Corsair. Think of it as a mental motivator or goal to get back into RC at some point. Your build was inspiring to myself and others and will always be appreciated.

Pete
