Joe,

I am working on the wings now and getting the retracts bays ready for the Hanger 9 P-47 retracts. I have a question about the elevator servo's. I installed them in the fuselage in the wing cradle area just behind the fuel tank. I am using 4 -40 rods attached to 3/8" wood dowels to reach the elevators. I have the dowels insided the fuselage so the 4 - 40 rods had to be a little long to reach the elevators. Do you think the 4 -40 rods will be stiff enough to control the elevators?

From reading this post and others does anyone know if Bass Pro sells 1lb lead weights? I think I my need a couple of them to balance this plane. I am also going to be moving my elevator servo's to the H-Stab like the others have done. I think it is best. The rods from the fuselage to the elevator I installed is a little to long for my liking[:@]

Well I found 1lb lead weights at Bass Pro and I will use them to balance this plane. I will build a weight box on the bottom of the motor mount firewall to hold the weights.

I also have decided to go another route on the retracts. I have heard the Hanger 9 150 P-47 retracts just don't hold up in the long run. I have forund a nice retract set for a Russian LA-7 at Troy Built that will do the job and they come with wheels. The set is complete and they cost only $140.00. Here is a link to them for anyone who is intrested.

Ramboman,

What does your Zero weigh in at? What retacts did you go with? I hope to post some pic's today of my build. I should be done with the fuselage and wings today. I will not have the retracts in until they arrive Monday. Mine will be around 20lbs I think Sounds heavy but others say 20lbs seems to be the weight it takes to balance this plane. It will still fly very well at the weight. I have a Skyshark P-40 with less wing area and it weighs 21.5 lbs and flys great

Jim, Zenoha G-62 & Century jet Focke Wulf 190 retracts. The retracts I bought used then had to replace the 74 degree camb with a 85 degree camb.

With your servo's in the horizantal stabilizer and a G-62 up front did you have to add and weight to the nose? I really hope my ESN landing gear from Troy Built models will hold up to a 20lbs war bird.

Will I got my LA-7 landing gear in today from Troy Built and they look great. They come with 4" wheels that should be the right size for this Zero I also got some hardwood sticks from lowes today to strengthen the landing gear area in the wings. I'll post some pics of the gear when I can

The ESM landing gear looks to be stonger gear than the Hanger 9 P-47 gear I was going to use. It is about the same length as the Hanger 9 gear so the modes I did for that gear will work out for the ESM LA-7 gear. I have been busy this week with other things so I have not installed them yet. I hope to get started installing them tomorrow or Monday. They come with real nice 4" wheels that will be more to scale than the little stock ones in the kit.

The cowl on mine is perfect, not a scratch just cut for the gasser. I'm thinking of changing to electric in the future(never thought I'd say that on large warbirds) and I'd like to get a cowl in case I do. THANKS

Thanks ramboman,I'll follow your progress and it should help me make a decision. I'm going electric with my 60 to 1.20 stuff I'm just not sure how large I want to go. Given weight needed to balance this bird you ought to be able to put enough MAH in her to fly for an hour. LOL
