RE: Project BF-109 E 4 1/5
Hi Bill and Slow how are you guys ,how is gone your projekts ?
Hi Texan , are you still writing with translator yet?
Guys , I have some ideas for this wooden skeleton for Bf 109 Emil in 1/5 scale ...... the weight of skeleton is 1250 gr. I think that is too much and I'll take off several rips ,then I think to make thin composite skin from mould and then I"ll put in into the skin this skeleton and fix it with glue ....maube the weight will be around 1700-1800 gr ...I hope soo After this (for me ) interestin operation I'll make second airplane with classic composite method

Texan ,I can't understand you ,any way .........
Guys , I cut the all tail .....I think that is better and more light the fuse ,the other wood part now is 900 gr.
Guys , what you think ,how manu must to be the weight of fuse and wing in finish without electronics and engines parts ????

Hi Rumen that is good!... GRAZIE!. at to see the huge and the form it is seems heavy!..but if you say which that is light i believe you!.
but do you want mount an electric engine. is correct that?. i see many time when you fly you use the electric engine for the yous air model.
however new wellcome at the old project!![sm=thumbs_up.gif]
p.s
you understand now?

RE: Project BF-109 E 4 1/5
Rumen, personally I would extend the wooden framework to the back of the cockpit area (like the pictures from 7 November) and add one former in the middle of the tail and just before the vertical fin.
I've seen a lot of composite/glass fuses have very weak tails because there are no formers in them.
a couple more grams isn't going to hurt the plane, and will make it much sturdier.

Yes Bill ,but I think that is not necessity soo much sturdiness.and other think , this structure from 7 November will be the problem when I build cockpit
Yes for the tail I am agree with you ,I'll put one ot two ribs... Now I have only ribs gor the tube of wings , ribs for engine ,and ribs for landing gears.only this ,nothing more and unduly and overweight

What I like about the other framework is the ability to easily mount the air tank for the retracts, the servo's and of course the cockpit. Without the framework there is a lot of work that needs to be done by the builder, which usually makes a mess of the interior.
I would add more weight to make things a little easier for me, personally...

That's it Bill I agree with you ,I thought about the hole of fuselage ,when the airplane is ready ,I must to have access to electroniks and other parts under fuselage ,you know my first fuse ,there have only one hole ,from the cockpit. So ,if I make the variant from 7 november I will have a priblem to put there my hand
I don't know ,I think about the access to under fuse ........ do you have some ideas ?

RE: Project BF-109 E 4 1/5
With the Bf 109, access under the fuse is hard due to the retracts being IN the fuse and retracting out.
I would probably make the back side of the canopy and some of the rear turtledeck removable (maybe rare earth magnets?) to get to the plubming?
The only thing I would want to put under the wing is the radio gear.

Hi, I am working on the same kind of thing. Did you take one half out of the mold and glue it to the other, or did you glue the two halfs together inside the mould? Any information on this process you have is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Great, like the carbon spar reinforcements. By the way any plans to add functional leading edge slats with a modeification that it can be controlled by an independent radio channel?
Also any thoughts on changing the E version wings to a T version wings. Just the T version has a longer wing and more wing area.

RE: Project BF-109 E 4 1/5
Oh yes Merlin, if it is the full original T-0 or T-1 version, the tail hook needs to be added. I guess for T-2 or the land based ones that saw service in Scandinavian countries, the tail hook can be left off. Still need to change the shape of the ailerons, flaps, and need to add spoiler on the top surface. I've never seen the spoiler's used in any of the old photos though.
Apart from the wing, most of the later land based T series has the same fuselage as the E series? As far as I can tell.
Let me see later if I can find the original blue-prints of the T2 wing somewhere in my digital-archives

RE: Project BF-109 E 4 1/5
Hi Fokke, Here's a copy of my E-wing plans. I haven't found my blueprint of the T version. It's archived somewhere. Also I just made a quick comparision of the Aeronautica plans and the actual blueprints, the Aeronautica plans are a bit wider Chord wise too. I'll post the T version aeronautical Drawings when I find them in my archives. The fuselage plans from Aeronautica matches exactly with the dimensions on the war-time blueprints. Hope this helps.
