Default 4/40 threaded rod

2 issues re; the subject.
Is there a source for 4/40 rod, threaded each end, 6" long?
Also, I have used a 4/40 die on 4/40 rod resulting in the dia.of the threaded portion the same as the unthreaded portion. This threaded portion is then a bit too small to fit properly in a 4/40 clevis.
When I buy already threaded 4/40 rods the threaded portion dia. is a bit greater than the unthreaded, resulting in a good fit in a clevis. What am I missing here?
Thanks, Larry

The reason the threaded rods you buy are larger is that the threads are rolled on, not cut on. You need to buy a larger sized rod to cut the threads on. Let me know if you find them.

Lawrence....You can buy all the threaded rod you want at most any Hobby store..........just make sure when you install the clevis that it has a lock nut once adjustments are made......Bill.....

Why do you need threads at both ends?
When I want clevises at both end I'll solder one on one end and have the adjustment at the other theaded end, Having threads at both ends is just makes one more thing that could come loose

If it's about looks? and you want to use all thread but don't like the look of all those threads, slide the right size brass or plastic tube over to hide the threads.

Try http://www.rodchuck.com

They offer a system that looks to be far better than buying rolled rods. You can control the length and type of material used. They suggest welding rod. I am looking to order the system on pay day.

Good luck
