My 1st all composite one came in at about 17.5 lbs! The later ones with the built up wings are somewhat lighter, mine current one is about 16.5.

From reading the posts it seems that the ESM Typhoons make the 190s look like 3D models.

I just finished putting a Bf 109 together and was pleasantly suprised to find that not only did it weigh in at 5Kgm (11 pounds) but also that no weight was needed to balance!

Yup, same here, 16.5 lbs. with batteries. Yes I agree Simon, an ARC or ARP I guess(lol), would be great!

I should have gotten my retract actuators by now. That silly CP strike and the backlog associated with it is gonna take a while to get through by forced-back-to-work disgruntled employees. I hope to get this back in the air soon!

OK been a while, wings are fixed, fuselage is fixed, just need to let epoxy paint dry (4 days they say for full hardness?) and then paint the german marking on.....just in time for our warbird day...just my luck for it to be rained off lol

tried to stick to original colours (but hard tp match), but I would love to get one of these models bare, and paint my own colours, I know YT/ESM/KMP did used to supply some model unpainted

Sneaky gets you the dog house here! I'd be sleeping on the couch at night for at least a week. Sometimes it's worth it!

Actuators have still yet to show. Also sounds like WSR is taking an "oh well" attitude. Not impressed with the replies I've gotten. There is a reason you insure items worth anything! I know people are out to scam whatever they can, but come on. I paid close to $172 CDN over a month ago and feel my only recourse is to vent here now, unfortunately.

If anything changes for the better you know I'll chalk it up to poor mail service, but for now the onus is on WSR.

Buyer beware they say.

As for the plane, well it's collecting dust. Two flights and over a grand invested. Bummed out doesn't come close to the way Ifeel right now.

Man, you got'er figured out! My wife gives me that look too when I try that, lol, but I soo know I've been busted!!

OK, I said I would, so here goes...

My actuators are being re-sent. The original package never showed up as we all know. The initial replies, I was not too impressed about, but what is important is that they made the situation right. I hope to have these in my hands next week.

Well speak of the devil. After all that, guess what showed up today?! I had to get on the phone and stop the other shipment before it was too late. Micheal and Jennifer were shocked too because either (or both) USPS or Canada Post said it wasn't even in the country! I'm a little embarrassed too.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting them installed and see how they work. Step by step pics to follow.

Well the ESM1/5 scale FW190D9 arrived via the secret postal system first thoughts where its huge im saving the delivery box for the mother in-law’s coffin
Over all finish is pretty good there’s a huge space under the gun hood that is filled with nothing so when I start ill look at removing that and putting batteries etc up there I intend on doing a retractable canopy on this.
Have a evolution 40 or MVVS same motor rebranded for the American market that will fit in no probs it’s a big cowl I will be using sierra retracts for this one and robart valves I used them in my FW190A8 and have had no trouble what’s so ever, when you work out the price of the (ESM leak like the titanic ones) for another $150 I can buy the best,
Its again a pull pull system in the rear rudder and elevator im happy with that my 3meter extra 260 runs pull pull and has never failed in 400 flights as a rule I dump all hardware supplied and go to the fishing shop and buy good stainless steal trace wire and collets’ cost is about 10 bucks for 5 yards and fittings which are brass,
If any one else wants further pictures just ask and I shall do some more before I put this kit in the hanger, as I have another 190A currently on the build for someone else will wait till I have bought all the goody’s before starting the 190D9 Cheers PS THE 190D9 IS BIGGGG

Looks good Stick

anyone here with any ecperience on using vinyl stencils?
First time for me, always used stick on vinyl before, and even though I waited 4 days for paint to cure and made sure surface was ready, I still pulled off quite a bit of the wing paint around the stencil had to paint touch up with paint brush, its ok but not as good as I'd have liked?
any clue guys?

Damn that looks good, Simon! Good job, mate!

There is a bit involved to prep the ESM gear to accept the WSR actuators. I have to mill out a chunk out of the trunnion for the jack screw. Seems to be the toughest part from what I can tell so far. I'll post some pics as I go. I haven't started to work on them just yet. Work first, play later, lol!

Well, I've been busy, lol.

A little intimidating at first to do the machine work, but it is pretty easy if you take your time.

Tools/materials needed;

-5/32" and 3/16" drill bits
-drill and/or drill press
-rotary tool with cut off wheel
-chainsaw (round) and flat files
-hex wrenches
-lock-tite
-2x 6" min extensions and a Y harness.

Assuming the gear is already out of the wing, remove the 3 -2mm screws on one side of the retract. Both the 1.5mm cap heads at the back of the cylinder as well which also can be troublesome. A carefully placed pair of pliers will help. No lock-tite applied at the factory so most are easy. Remove the cylinder and trunnion. There is a shim on the trunnion pivot that you can loose if not careful. It's this trunnion that we need to modify so the jack screw can go through it. I also removed this pivot pin just in case it got marred during the machining process.

Mark the edge of the closed side of the trunnion so the mark is on the outside edge of the stop pin mark. On the drill press with a 3/16" bit, set the trunnion closed side down so the bit will go through the open side before it starts to make the hole. Line up the inside edge of the bit with the mark on the side and plunge the bit through. Then take the rotary tool and cut two slots to make the U shaped channel. You then remove more material with the files to get the right angle for the jack screw to have enough clearance.

Drill out (and sand or file) the actuator pivot pin hole with the 5/32" bit. It needs to be opened up just a little, not much is required to let the pin slide through. Set the stepped jack screw pin to the open position leaving a little bit of clearance at the end point. Trim off any excess jack screw so that it is flush or inside the frame.

Once satisfied with the fit of everything reassemble and use a bit of loc-tite on evey screw. Repeat the process for the otherside. Do not do both at once so you can have a reference as to how it goes back together.

Need some extensions to install them in the plane. I will get them made up a little later on this evening to test them out. All in all, I bet I spent all of an hour and a half on actual work to get it to this point. Not that hard of a modification, just take your time.

Thanks for that great write up, it seems quite easy then, I just need to measure my retracts (as they are Sierra and maybe different) and let the guy know so he can advise me as to whether they will work?

will look forward to seeing them working in your fw190 Revy, one day soon?

Hoping to have all my birds ready for next week-end!

It would be interesting to find out if they are the one size fits all type. The other optional jack screw pin is for a Robart 600 series.

they look allot like the LADO elec motors I used for my gear I looked back a little ways and didn't see a link to your motors.

the LADO units provided there own matched bar for the jack screws they really tighten up the gear and removed allot of slop in my units when in the up and down locked position
