I used white glue like Elmer's.
They take a beating from the wiping off dust and such so you want them stuck good.
Give the glass a little sanding so the glue has a little teeth to get into.
Ya mine weighs 28 lbs also but just saying all that added nose weight ...less the motor.... is crazy for this size model & wing area for a high wing plane.
I fly a Balsa USA 1/3 Super Cub the weighs 36 lbs with no added nose weight and I think fly's light as a feather.

Whew!! Finally finished the corrugations on the control surfaces. For me, it took 12 ½ packages of Plastruct 90002. I ended up using thin CA applied with a Sig applicator tip. I wouldn’t try using thin CA without the Sig tip. I think it would end up being a mess. Started by gluing down several full length angles, and then cutting them off long with a pair of dikes. After all were applied, I cut them to final length with a diamond Dremel cut off blade. By using the thin CA, the job went pretty fast.

Well guys, I am happy to say I'm back and working toward finishing my "DAWG". This has been a rough two years for me, I buried my father this year, my best friend and I (military) buried his father last year and his mother this year who were like my second set of parents. To lighten up this posting, I asked my wife if she has her insurance paid up, just in case. Smile. I am again working on rivets and panel lines. Charlie, I will certainly move the CG forward 3/4" as you suggested due to the mod. Need to finish the DAWG by mid July. Besides, I have an award winning Avenger to finish. Stay well everyone, and Happy Father's Day. Chic

I need some help. I'm building the Marutaka 1/5 scale Bird Dog .What is the dihedral and the incident(measuring from the plan I think it is 0,but some guy told me it is -2). I didn't know that you suppose to build the wing up side down until I already finished them. Would that affect the way it going to fly. Any help would be appreciated.
Joe.

don't know about the Marutaka 1/5 scale Bird Dog, but the Vailly bird dog shows wash out on the wings , but one or two were build without washout and flew..i made a jig to get the dihedral & washout while I built my wings..have to look on my plans and see what the wing dihedral is.

If you built the wing with the bottom down and flat you may have a problem as the top of the wing is flat and the bottom of the wing tapers up from the rib at the outboard end of the flap and as such provides part of the dihedral in addition there is a 1 degree angle on the root rib.
Hope this helps.

OK guys, I'm back to work. I am currently using primer to create the overlapped panels on the fuse. I have installed vinyl rivets on the wings, simulated the removal fuel tank cover and will finish the wing by installing Phillips screws around the wing fuel tank cover. Here are a few shots. Glad to be back and get the DAWG finished soon. I have my Avenger to finish. Chic

Well I have everything glassed and primed and the fuselage and one set of wings painted.. tail is on and flared to fuse. other wing primed and drying... this bird is a collage course in primeing & painting, lots of elbow work.lots & lots of sanding. ....redtail who's vinyl rivets are you using.? not going real scale but they would look good..

Hello rigrandy1959, the rivets are from: www.fritzdezings.com email: [email protected] He has various size rivets on his website. I am using the 0.095" size for the 1/4" scale DAWG. Good guy to deal with. Chic

thanks.. myself the top of everything looks better than the bottom..LOL. spent more time sanding & primeing on the top ..LOL.. funny how that works out..and it may upset some but i'm not doing the cockpit , way too much work and really don't need the weight, i want to try to keep it around 25 to 28 lbs.. but rivets would look great

Hey AirplaneNuts, thanks for the data straight off the plans. I'm going to have to learn how to take better care of my plans. They get covered with plastic but somehow they still get torn, glued, etc. By the way has anyone made a correction to those stats such as adding some right degrees maybe. Just asking. Smile. Chic
