Default NWHT Zero engine help

I have ordered the NWHT Zero. I understand it is a long wait and I am in the process of assigning my present engines to projects. I have a FPE 42CC gas and a BME 50CC gas. Can anyone who has experience with this plane make any recomendations? Also any feedback or any other help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Default NWHT Zero engine help

Hi ilike2fly,
I am in the process of building one of these now (just starting to sheet).
If it really comes in at 15 lbs, I will use something heavy with about 20lbs of thrust (hate to put lead in the nose when an engine works better).
Current plans are for a Sachs 3.2, but if it doesn't need the nose weight it will get a Poulan 50cc electronic.
I'll keep you posted as I get closer to some sort of finished weight.
Dave
P.S. - are you going to warbirds over Alabama next week?

The 42 or the BME 50 will both fly the NWHT Zero without any problems. Obviously the BME would give you a bit more performance but this plane will be about 20 pounds ready to fly and it has a very good wing. You will be able to fly it very scale at about half throttle and if you want to step it up a bit just nudge the throttle stick and things will get exciting. I have built 19 of the NWHT kits for my self and customers and because they build light you don't need huge engines to drag them around the sky. I think you will really enjoy this kit and I know it will be one of the most responsive and stable model airplanes you have ever had in the air. Good luck with your Zero!

I've seen a ST3000 haul the Zero around very well, so if you can get an equivalent gasser you'll do fine. I think either of your engines will haul it around great.
