Nice job on your plane.
Sorry I haven't been following your posts...You may have already answered these questions.
How did you get the covering so nice? I have a lot of wrinkles in the one I'm building.
Or are you one of the lucky ones that didn’t have so many wrinkles?
What engine are you running?

I'm making my Christmas wish list for Mrs. Claus and I was wondering what mods need to be done on this arf? I have read the gear is weak but is there anything else that need to be ordered like hardware or any upgrade parts. Oh, and what servos can I get by with?

Hay Shubova,
First, my model came to me in near perfection, for a cover job. But I did remove the covering on the tail feathers, and recovered them with T.F. Monocote. I find that an air heat gun works great but you need to be careful how your approach your coving problems, and wrinkles. I use a heat sock to force down the covering once it is heat shrunk and warm, onto the balsa wood. For me, Monocote is not easy to apply, but it is one of the more durable coverings you can apply onto a model. I've got models over twenty years old that are covered in Monocote...and still flyable.
I'm using a K&B Aero 1.00, inverted and a modified muffler for inverted placement.
Soft Landidings always,
Bobby of Maui

O. I forgot this is "your" thread and they're no questions allowed. I was just wondering if anyone has had to "mod" anything after some flight time. I have read the entire thread and haven't seen much.

kwhite.6:
Id get a roll of the flat green monokote. if you use Pneumatic retracts you will need air disconnects. that set of 510rs came with the valve and other things you need for retracts.
Here is the landing gear I used with the gear doors installed. these are Robart 510RS retracts, L&R 380 P-51 legs, and Robart 3 1/4 inch tires.
This engine (OS 120 AX) airframe combo fly's as fast an my Nitro Models Falcon 120 with a P-70. Absolutely no lag. toss on the throttle and hang on...
I still can't believe how nice it fly's. Thanks Top Flite...

Your point is unstandable and well taken but I agree with Kwhite.6. The threads on RCU are for everyone. Not all of us are at the same level of understanding. If you’re frustrated with the questions of others instead of b****’n don’t answer the question. What might be a nicer gesture would be to refer the person to the page and post that will give him the answer. What we should be more concerned with is the accuracy of the information.
My only my pet peeve about this threads is …it would be great if everyone would read their questions or answers before posting them. I’sa amazeded that thr mispelln an de mis uses of dua grammars in some of the posts. [sm=biggrin.gif]Ha Ha Ha. Spell check is a great invention...try it sometime.
But really no one is perfect we all make mistakes, myself included, but the point is “understandingâ€. If we can’t understand the Q (question) or A (answer) what good is it. The goal of writing is to make the reader understand your thoughts; we just can’t assume everyone will understand us that would be to easy. I think it has something to do with the Tower of Babel…
Oh one more thing (sorry for the rant)... if you don’t like what I just wrote then simply move on to the next post!
Thanks and Good Luck with you plane.

The recommended CG (5 5/8" back) works for me, sorta: mine is actaully 5 1/2" back (which is within 1/8" of 5 5/8")
MANY others tho are not liking their CG there, and are moving it forward, up to the 5" point.
But you still won't have the answer until everybody that previously stated what their CG is at ALSO states again.

Did any of you learn the english language and have spelling tests? This thread sounds like a bunch of third graders are doing the spelling. I would consider night school for most of you unfortunate individuals that can't spell. JMHO!

In my case, a typing class would help more. That's right, I still 'hunt and peck'. That automatically makes me mispell words many times. I hit the key right next to the one that I intended to, or my right first finger hits a key just before my left fisrt finger was supposed to.
Anyway, so what. U maeking fun uv my speling?
Maybe there should be forums in which everybody must pass some sort of literacy test before they are allowed to post? Maybe you could be the moderator? Tell you what: you may be able to understand everything that you read in such a forum, but I for one won't be posting any 'how tos' in such a forum.

I don't want anybody to take this the wrong way but I just read the last two pages and can't stop laughing. Thanks I really needed a good laugh. And you can even find some helpful info on the Top Flite P51. Love the thread.

Back to bizness
Corsair, I do know you don't recommend putting in a tail retract, anyway, how did you solved the tail steering?
I have a few ideas with wire steering, but thought I you might share some tips?
