TF giant p-47 engine choice?
OK everyone I would love a radial to put in this plane but not sure about the power of the saito 325.. Anyone out there have radials in their TF p-47? I was told to just go ahead and put the g-62 and be done.. I do have the .90 and 1.70 radials and have some experience with them so I'm not afraid of them..I've been told the plane comes out at 28-30 lbs...is this correct?

TF Engine
Jim, the saito radial would work fine for that plane but. its an expensive choice.. Other than the sound.. its not scale either. The P and W engine used was a 9 cylinder engine.. not trying to be picky here just letting you know lol. Any of the engines in the 3-4 cu would work just fine.. The G 62 is a decent choice because its got the power and weight and its relatively cheap.. Not the best engine but not too bad either.. Regards BobH.

thanks for the reply.. I know you dont know me, but I am pretty well knowledgable on the jugs and radials. I appreciate you being picky!! Thats how you get it done right! Anyway I just wasn't sure if anyone has put the saito 325 in the TF giant p-47. After reading on this site about the g-62 now I'm not sure I want one. Any other radials work? I just love the sound of them!!! My 1.70 sings a beautiful song! Can't wait to put it on my TF Stinson when I'm done bulding it.

TF P47
Jim, I have a Taurus 3.2 for my Yellow jug. Its just a little smaller than the Top flite but weights about the same.. My plane is not finished yet so I haven't had a chance to run the engine. I know others who have them and they love them.. Like I said before... any 3-4 cui.. will work. BobH.

The Saito is probably not enough if the plane weighs more than 27 lbs. It will climb like a P-47, which wasn't known for it's climbing ability!
If you can keep the weight down to 21-24 lbs, you'll have the equivalent of 2300-2600 hp!
