Following your build, very impressive. On my twin engine aircraft I run a centralized fuel tank in the fuselage with a common ignition battery for all the engines fed through a IBEC. This frees up your nacelles. I have two birds configured this way and it works great. The fuel lines are connected to the fuse via MPI check connectors so the wing can be removed. Not sure if it will work for you but just a idea to throw out. Jerry.

JB Thanks, I'm always open to suggestions and ideas. I thought about the centralized tank before but it won't work out in my case.
BC It will take some serious time and commitment to build one of these. I goes fast at first and looks simple enough to build, but then it gets envolved. This plane has been the ultimate challenge for me so far. I'll be happy when it's finally completed.

Well the plane is just about at the painting stage but it has been so damned cold up here I haven't had a chance to get to it. I usually paint out in the garage, but with the temps averaging at -10 to 10 week after week I can't get it warmed up enough. I guess I could post some small detailed stuff. I was hoping to have it painted before winter set in 'cause there will be a lot of set up and detail work to do after that.

I know what you mean, NY has been cold to. I would definitely love to see what where you are up to on it. I do have one question for you though. How did you "break" apart the wing to make it able to transport in your trailer, thats a big wing. coming from someone who doesnt have a whole lot of experience with big birds with multiple engines on the wings how are you going to make it so you can disconnect the motors? I assume you are going to have 1 servo per motor? will you have to disconnect 4 wires or are you going to use some sort of Y harness?

The outer wing panels come off. This one is modified though from the original plan so the out board engines are with the outer panels. This shortens the center section enough so that it stays attached to the fuse and I can keep the plane on its gear to roll in and out of the trailer. See post 123 for more details. I'll have to disconnect 3 leads at each panel. The throttle, flap and aileron. Each engine will have it own ignition battery. The engines all have their own servo and will plug into a match box first for fine tuning adjustment. The flaps will be split ( 2 pc ) because of the removable outer panels so there will be a servo for each flap section. Those will also run into a match box for fine adjustment. I'll be using a 12 channel power safe RX also to plug all this stuff into.

Frank is the best and most prolific builder I personally know, although I'm sure Warbirdman would give him a run for the money.

I don't want to clog this thread with B-17 stuff so I'm going to email. I need more info on your bird. Looking at the video you chopped your power at the end of the runway and her dropped like a rock! Nice catch!!.

I contacted Larry at Precision Cut Kits. Its a no go for now on the B-29.
It might change with a bit more research. I was looking forward to it. Looks like I will be building a Albatross from BUSA instead.Warbird Man, Did you see the rivets on my B-17? They make the plane my friend. They are made by Chad Veich Models. I highly recommend them!!!

Very impressive speed! That must of taken some serious time. I don't know if I'll be doing rivets on mine anymore. I had planned on covering with flight metal also but now I just want to get it done and off the bench. (got too many other warbirds waiting to get built)
Bummer about Precision not cutting B-29 kits. I suppose there is not a big demand for them. I see kits and parts for the B-29 every so often in the RCU classifieds.

No, that's the beauty of it. They are laser cut vinyl dots 0.03 in size placed in rows of 200. Peel and stick then paint. Very fun!! I have a full section in my thread on them.
No they still cut them. We just couldn't come to a agreement for now. Maybe later. ( I'm pretty, scratch that, I'm VERY demanding) 
Buying my last kit at Wingspan was a nightmare so I want a perfect purchase this time. All the parts as promised when promised. I cant find enough people to tell me their purchase at PCK was good. But there is no end to the people who support BUSA. So I will go there this time.

I quickly scrolled threw your build thread on your B-17 project and I must say, I have never seen such a thorough, well laid out, detailed build thread- ever. It was hard too tell from the video just how much detail you put into it. Excellent job on both the plane and build thread!!!

Anyway, I didn't like idea of having exposed switches, fuel dots, and vent tubes sticking out of the nacelles and there wasn't a good place to mount them without interfering with the fuel tank inside, so I came up with some hatches that resemble the full scale access panels to hide them in. The fuel vent will come out in the dummy exhaust pipe on the opposite side.

RCSB is packed full of "scale enablers" a bunch of sick puppies! I had no intentions of any of that. You just get hooked over there.

Hi Warbird, I just read the full thread. Have you kick the building of the B29 up again? I am planning to buy a kit from precision cut and would like to know if you can give me any hints? Its been what 6 years now for such a difficult challenge but on the other hand this plane is a builder's dream! Can you post an update or some pics of how the project is? I would really appreciate it and would also like to congratulate you on this endevour. Regards!
