Noah, Larry, and Boyd - the three of you have truly been friends standing by my side. I luv it and I seriously thank you both. Well the doctor could perform only half of the surgery, the growth was so big (9cm removed) that he could only take out half of the non cancerous tumor which had wrapped itself around nerves and her vocal cords. He stopped the surgery, and came out to talk with the family. He asked me, if he should continue and try to remove the other half which may result in a trake being placed in her throat due to possible collapse of her vocal cords. I looked at the husband and then the doctor and I told him no, she can come back in 7 weeks to remove the other half. God is good but as you say Noah, this is truly a "tough stretch". Again, I'm having a bit of buzzard's luck but this too shall pass. Both the patients are doing well, Shirley is doing so well that I gave her - her car keys back and she is happily spending time with her daughter and conducting "Retail Therapy". This was the first full day back in the shop so I just cleaned it up and readied it for tomorrow to work the other side of the bomb bay. God bless you both and your families. Again, thank you for thinking about us. Larry as I said before - so glad you are working again, I needed you to shore up my Social Security. Boyd, hope I don't need another umbrella. Nite Nite Guys. The sun will rise tomorrow. Chic

Shirley told me I have messed up "HER" house enough - so she threw me out - especially now that she has her keys back. She told me to take all my junk, tools, clean up my mess, and take the new project out to the shop. I have been relieved of my duties. She told me to tell all "HER" guys about the new project. She said to tell Noah, Larry, Ranger, and Boyd how grateful she is to have all of you watching her back.
I always wanted to have an Airport Tug to pull the scale airplanes around - A "KOOL" Factor. This is the 2nd Tug I have built. The first one (Yellow) was sold to a Hobby Shop owner. This one (Will be painted White), will stay with "ME". I built this on the kitchen table. I would run out to the shop to get tools and cut wood. I needed to be close to Shirley so it was easy to work on the Tug in the kitchen. It is built on a WLtoys 12428 1/12 4 WD Crawler chassis (a lot cheaper than first one). Notice how clean the shop is. Hope you guys like it.
By the way, the picture of the "Mouse" hat is a tribute by Larry. He wanted to match my "MOUSE" shoes - Rascal. The Fly Past Magazine is another tribute by Larry to the Avenger. Many thanks Larry.

Hey Boyd, you recognized me, well alright. However, his mustache is better than mine. Boy are you right about Shirley's domain. I believe the only thing that saved me from Shirley's raff was the constant breakfasts in bed, changing of bandages, UBER duties, and on, and on, and on. But after today, had one last duty to perform today, those excuses are null and void. Smile. Back onto the Avenger. Chic

Guys - started work on the bay doors. Got the doors to working (fair) but soon found out that the bay door air valve would not hold air. Is it possible that the stem is not screwed in enough or will I have to cut it out and replace everything. I really liked the air valve setup I just completed in the Avenger alot. Damn, I can't catch a break. Chic

Is it just a "travel" adjustment on the valve?
If you dial up the servo travel function on the radio, and then adjust slowly (perhaps using some soapy water sprayed on the valve), can you find open and closed positions that stop the escape?

Sorry guys, my mistake. It is the air filler unit (Post 2395) and not the retract air valve (it works great). Just leaving the house to go get a filler valve tool and new air valve cores ($5.00) to see if that will fix the problem.
Back - and of course the valve tool is for regular size air fillers (auto tires) and it did not fit. I tried it on several other air filler valves that I will use and it worked great. Where I got the smaller/cute filler valves, I don't know. Will remove and replace with the regular size filler valves today. Chic

Both air filler valves (Bay doors/Retract) removed and replaced with the help of my assistant - Shirley. She said can't you tear open a hole somewhere to get at the filler valves and air lines. I looked about and tore a hole in the turrent wall facing the front of the airframe. That hole worked great. The valves are both holding their air. Smile. Moving on to finish the bay doors. Chic

Sorry Larry, my mistake, I was talking about the air tank fillers, not the retract valves. The correct nomenclature of these things gets me at times. See the first photo in Post #2395. They remain in the same place after I R&R'd the old air fillers with the new air fillers. Still working on the bay doors. Chic.

Noah - HELP. I have come to a cold, full stop. I even went back through this thread and began reviewing all of your posts on mounting the horizontal stab along with the posts and photos of Larry, Pete, etc.. Noah, I see where in your Post # 315, you made a statement that has confused me greatly. You said that the rudder post, passes through the horizontal stab near the trailing edge. I don't see that in Charlies' notes nor has any of the guys spoke about it. Stretching out my imagination by carefully observing your photos, it looks like anywhere from a 1/4" or less is cut into and out of the horizontal stab thus allowing the rudder post to past through and glue flat to the rear of the fuse. Now I am also confused as to where the horizontal stab is to be positioned on its mount. I understand the 2+ deg of incidence. I measured on the plans that from Former F10, the front of the horizontal stab is approx. 20" away. But then the horizontal stab will stick out a fair amount from the rear of the fuse excluding the width of the rudder post not being there. Give me a bit of guidance guys as to where the horizontal stab should be mounted and how much is cut out of the horizontal stab. Thanks Guys. Chic

Chic, I cannot be certain, be cause I don't have the plans with me anymore, but if you look at this post:
#260
and check out picture 6, you can clearly see that I have the vertical rudder post passing through the stab (and I assume in front of the trailing edge stringer of the stab).
Maybe Peter or Larry can help if they have the plans with them (or remember what they did as they assembled the tail feathers)!
Sorry, buddy... just too many years have passed since I glued that thing in place!

Thanks Lil Brother. For some reason, I have the rudder post already glued into the vertical stabilizer. I guess thinking it would simply mount flush with the rear of the fuse. May have to cut into the stab rear to place the rudder post up against the rear of the fuse then somehow reinforce the opening of the rear of the horizontal stab. Thanks Noah, I know it has been sometime ago for you but you remain steadfast for me. Chic
