Contact Jet Hanger, he purchased all the tooling to make the Jemco SBD kit. I have one, they are the best.

64"span, totally scale

Does Jet Hangar actually make any Jemco stuff now? Every time I find one of the SBD's on FleaBay it ends up getting sniped at the last second for over 300 bucks. Regardless how good the Jemco kits were, they are not worth that kind of cash for that small of a plane in my mind.

Also EasyTiger will be selling a SBD soon. Not sure of the size though.

Curtis from Easytiger just emailed me. THe SBD is going to be 81", powered by .90 to 26cc...

how about a 68" span one? all built up, nice glass cowl, takes retracts ok, kit is still available, OR, how about just the plan, and a cowl and canopy? same model? kits are avilable from COMPLETE-A-PAC, cowl, canopy, and plans from TRAPLET PUBLICATIONS, indeed, there is, as i type, a build going on, on the r/cfliers forum, i have owned three of these models, and flown 2, one fitted with a laser 90, tuther fitted with an OS91surpass, 2nd had fixed legs, was glassed, and painted, tuther was an OLD OLD model, tissued &doped etc, standard cheapy merati retracts, and kept me entertianed for many year, till the inevitable,

its an old school build, no fancy lazer cutting, all parts cut by handraulics, and very nicely packaged to boot, go on, you know you want one!!!!!!!

just been having a look at the plan and part details, looks like, IF they can get them all together, in one package, the part will cost £30 for canopy, cowl, and plan, and £16.50p post, look up traplet publications, in google, when you are on the site, just put DAUNTLESS into the search box, for any of you guys wanting BRIAN TAYLOR stuff, they are now doing a lot of his plans etc

the traplet CAP DAUNT , IS DISContinued , i dont even know if you can get the plans .
i'm building one and i would suggest you dont , because the plans are not good at all. its too bad because i think its a good basic design . i think the kit they produced, was produced
from a different set of plans . the two fuse views dont match in dimension , there are no notes on the correct washout for the wing . its a nightmare .
there are mistakes everywhere . bite the bullet and go with the BATES 85 inch.

just my opinion

Jet Hanger has both the master scale P-51D and SBD somewhere in his holdings.

I'll ask him at the Ontario, Ca. model show friday

you can get the plans, cos they are still listed, but, its an old plan, i am 54, and can remember thses being around when i got back in this game, 32 years ago, if you can find a better one, go for it, but this one is in your size range, if you can build it, it is a great flyer, and you have the help of a build thread on tuther forum

Does anyone know what the C.G. is for the Jemco SBD? I am in the process of restoring a previously build plane and am looking for the CG.

Thanks,

Mark

Way back when they were still in production (up to early 80's?), they were selling for $200 or more (Tower Hobbies), while the Top Flite .60 size warbirds were selling for around $100. Inflation alone could bring upo ther price to $300, but being the owner of one of these kits: they are definately among the most detailed, scale accurate kits in this size ever made. Furthermore: there is a LOT to a Dauntless kit that is not in most other warbird kits, such as a cockpit for 2, dive brakes, bomb drop (somewhat mandatory on a dive bomber), etc.

In my opinion: they are worth every bit of $300.

The mere fact that they sell for $300 or more means they ARE worth that much

I'm looking to get my first Warbird and I've been looking at the KMP SBD DAUNTLESS and I really like the looks of this plane. Either a G26 or a MLD 28 cc should be ideal for this plane with a three blade prop. I've ask Andrew at KMP in one of the other threads about the fuse length and I havn't gotten an anwser yet. Looks really nice and due out the 20th of this month.

OK, found it. CG is not mentioned in the manual (even tho the recommended control throws are), but it is indicated in the drawings: I measured 4 13/16" back from where the wing leading edge meets the fuselage. No range is specified.

BTW: mine will be built as a -3, with Battle of Midway makings/ scheme. It will also be electric powered (Silent But Deadly). I have the fuselage nearly completed, tail feathers completed, wing cenetr section completed (including retract installation). Need to do the outer wings, will probably complete the entire thing next winter (2009 ~ 2010)
