This thread is as ancient yet it deserves some closure. After another decade I did finish and attempt to fly the XF-85 Goblin. You can search it on YouTube. Two attempts. Unlikely to say that it "flew" as it travelled very little horizontally as it hurtled toward the earth. More like a skydiver without a parachute than an airplane. It was fun and super cool. I am not through with it, just likely to take several more years before I bring it back to the bench. Leo Spychalla

very cool Leo! Myself and a friend have been thinking of doing a large-ish Goblin... to many other forks in the fire to do more than hangar talk about it though.

IRL the goblin flew pretty well. It was nixed due to how hard it was to rehook to the bomber. About the same time the airforce figured out air to air refueling.
