Completed cowl, installed for the first time on the fuselage.

I study these pictures and get this knot in my stomach. I'm just not satisfied with this. I thought I could move on, but I'm not sure now.

I dread thinking about what I'm considering doing. Anybody else see what bothers me? Maybe I'm just being too anal.

Need a little help here.

Here is a short video of them in action. I managed to free up a channel for controlling them. I have them on a dial.

PS. sorry about the stupid Family Guy commercial in the back ground.

That Mae West is NICE.
Would like to find one like that.
That would be a nice thing for Dino to offer with his pilots. Maybe a flight jacket as well.
I bought 9 out of Hong Kong last night. When they arrive I have to figure pricing and post them on RCSB.

Don't believe they ever will. It has to do with the routing of the cable and the fact that the top is where the cable will push the most. Mine work the same way.

No, what I have a problem with has nothing to do with the flaps. Maybe I'm the only one it bothers. That would be great.

Just a guess but checkboard not parallel with the panel lines? By the way I think it looks fine.

Bingo................... sort of. The panel lines are also a simulation. But the blocks look to slant down at the top of the sides. Now the whole cowl is tapered, more at the bottom than the top. Should the blocks be more in line with the thrust line till they get closer to the bottom? I've looked at full scale pictures till my eyes go buggy, and still am undecided. At any rate, I have three options.

1. leave it the way it is

2. redo as much checkerboard as I need to to get them on the thrust line[&o] This involves the weathering, chipping, panel lines, latches, pretty much the whole smash

3. redo the top two panel joints to realign them with the checkerboard lines.

Which would you guys do? Thanks for all your help on this.

You are a funny man. I need a laugh right about now.

I'm going to set up and do some airbrushing behind the cowl, and wait for some more feedback. Thanks guys.

I would be inclined to leave it as is. I think if you attempt to modify the checkboard you will wind up redoing the entire thing.

I tend to agree. What about option 3. Do you thing the top panels lines make it more obvious?

Yes, I do think the top panel lines tend to stand out and your eyes get drawn to unalignment of panel line and checkerboard. I think the shape of the checkboard is fine. If you can just modify the top panel lines without too much work then it may be worth it.

Ram, I have two thoughts for you,

1- About the comment you made last page with someone only rating a 2 on your cowl. One thing I hate about this website is all the negativity from people! It may be more jealousy than anything, i dont know. But it does frusterate me to the point I almost hate posting my own stuff on here. You just cant let it get to you especially when your plane looks awesome!

2- I see what your talking about with your checkering. But I wouldn't let it bother me, I think it looks great! But one thing I know about myself is if it bothers me I'm not happy with it, kinda like what you said. I however think it looks great, I absolutely love the functional cowl flaps too! I would just leave it, fly it and enjoy.

Thank you dvs1 for the comments.

1.I think most guys enjoy the galleries, I know I do, so I continue to post. I have way over 16,000 hits on it, so I guess it is being enjoyed. Can't understand the thinking of some, but it is what it is. I try to be open-minded to constructive criticism. I'll try harder.

2.I have a problem with this cowl. I've become obsessed with this stupid issue. I can't look at cowl without seeing this. You guys probably know what I mean. So.....I took the latches off to see how it was going to go. I think I will just change the top panels lines as suggested. You eye will follow them and not be drawn to the blocks so much. I'm on the clock.

Hey Gary,
The cowl flaps are working perfectly. Dont mess with them at all.
Regarding the pilot vests, we already have them in motion.
We are just waiting for the production items to arrive. The photo shows a sample piece.
These have been designed for our line of 15" Premium pilots but can be used for many others as well.
