RE: CMP 80
hey guys... well here are just about the final photos of the Zero. I finished airbrushing the control surfaces, Flap bays got a little treatment, painted the squad sign and number. glued all the hinges and controls and finally unmasked the canopy. Due to the continuing failure of the economy and Stupid Bama taking away 20 weeks of unemployment to everyone on it. Im going to have to step away from the hobby. and pack everything I own in storage and move possibly soon if I dont find work in the next few weeks.. ... yupp approaching critical mass..lol
So anyways.. here are photos of her all together eccept the spinner.. Sill need to do the gas and oil streeks and stuff, but that can wait. So other than installing the servo's and other electronics, she's all done
Enjoy.. and Comments are always welcome.. Oh and work leads to...lol

Best looking "ARF" that I have ever had the pleasure seeing. You have put so much work into this project. I love it. 77chickenhawk, I feel your pain on being unemployed. I have been in that state for almost 2 years. Hell I can't even fly anymore. I live here on the forums for my only RC fix. Hope this doesn't happen to you. I had to move also.....Sucks.

RE: CMP 80
Well Guys, I have to finally chime in here. Chickenhawk I can feel your pain. Your post has some irony to it. I to was working on my Zero, my thread was "Dave Platt zero makeover" when I had to make some of the same decisions that you are going to have to make. RC was my life, I have 4 kids who all used to sit up late at night with Dad and build planes. I decided to downsize a year and a half ago. We moved into town to a smaller house, sold some cars, my RV, you guys know the rest. I have not flown in all this time, and have lost my desire to even work on my planes. My life is better now and I am very thankfull for that. I know I will get back into RC, just will need a shove in the future to do so. I wish all of you who are going through tough times the best that life has to offer. All things seem to work them self out in the end. And yes I have been reading your thread from the start, Great job on the plane. Thank God for RCU, Take Care, Capt. Winters

RE: CMP 80
Bruce,
I have followed your thread from day 1. I know everything that you have been through with this build. Your eye for detail is awesome. The only thing that you need to do to finish this beautiful bird is to fly it. When that day comes, we need to have a very good photographer there to get pictures. A close up of this plane in the air would be the iceing on the cake. I wish that you could have had the money to finish the plane the way you wanted to. This plane does set a very high standard for all zeros being built including mine. I hope that I will be there to see her fly.
John,
I hope to see you come back into the hobby like you were. You are sorely missed. It sucks to see your planes listed on RCU. What happened to the three of us flying together. Man, that seems like so long ago. It sure would be nice to have the three of us go out and fly for a day.
There, I have commented on your string. I wanted to save my opinion for the end.
Congratulations on a very fine build,
Matt Raymond
P.S. I hope that it gets the attention that it deserves where ever you end up.

thankx alot for you words of encouragement and comments on the zero. I hopping and Praying it dont lead to me neeeding to move away. It would really suck to have to move back home being 42..ugg ... I really love this hobby and building and flying is so much fun for me... teaching people how to do things to these planes was also one of the best and satisfying things to do. Inspiring people to do their best. I will be a happy camper when i can get my hands on planes again and able to give my part again in this great hobby. for now im going to have to sit back on the side lines and watch from a distance...,, uggg that bites !!

RE: CMP 80
Hi mike.I don't know if Ive met you either.... I would know your face if i have b4.. I fly. Or should I say did fly at FRM on ave 12 and I joined the Madera club to only to have the field close 2 weeks after the fact.. So everyone got shoved over to Fresno..lol but I know Lockwood, Randy. Matt Ramond, Ron "T", John Orito and a few others ( im bad with names)
I'm very honored you think Highly of my work Mike ! .... this is only my second plane I've taken allot of time on... the other is the yellow p-40 (Yellow P-40 under construction) thread. I got that when I first started in the hobby some yrs ago.. Ive taken it to most of the air shows at FRM in the past just as a static display and for my friends to see. maybe you've seen it?... Ive done a few other paint jobs for friends planes as well but nothing to this extent.. I live in Clovis...where are you at? it would be my pleasure to show it to you in person if you wanted?
So what did you mean by "and would love to shoot this ..i shoot for a couple rags and our Granite company." ??
are you hiring? lol.......no seriously

RE: CMP 80
hiring?.....not sure, what do you do? we do full interior remods, from flooring on thru countertops, tile, etc.
hey i belonged to the Mader club back in the mid 90's before i took a leave of abscence to pursure photography.....nice bunch of guys. Dad and i attended pattern contests there too back in '71,72.
i shoot for a couple home interior mags in which we endorse subs of various trades.......with 12 shops, it gives the subs we use a lot of exposure.
i would love to photograph your Zero. i do a few members but will never shoot the Warbirds event again. i was invited there once and literally embarassed off the field by the line caller.........don't need that[:@] . Marion Crowders models were shot by me and published in a Scale mag from England.
anyways, i have some pictures of what i mainly build (WW1) up on the FRM gallery under Nieuport N11 and N28.
what got me interested lately in WWII birds is the FW190 that my close friend Don Schafer gave me.........that's how i saw your thread yesterday and i am still in awe of your skills.
the stick on rivets are amazing.........would love to get ahold of them.
i will definately use your techniques posted here for the weathering. i realize this model was a bash, but man, you took it to a Top Gun level. i can just imagine what kind of builder you are.
i live near Behymer and Willow...........there's a group of electric flyers who fly there every Sat and Sun.
BTW, have you seen this?..it's photos from the CMP factory in China,
