Knowledge Quiz for Warbird wiz
Okay, I have another one. Hopefully this one will take some time.
And again,it's a "Name the plane" quiz. Good Luck
1) This plane was developed for a specific purpose

2) This plane used an engine, built under license, developed by an ally
Not the P-59. Time for the next clue:
1) This plane was developed for a specific purpose
2) This plane used an engine, built under license, developed by an ally
3) This plane was armed with only one gun and explosive ordinance

Many planes were developed for a specific role and found to be better in another. Just look at the RA-5C Vigilante, a carrier based supersonic bomber that sucked in that role but excelled in photo-recon. Nope, not the Prowler. Now, back to the quiz:
1) This plane was developed for a specific purpose
2) This plane used an engine, built under license, developed by an ally

Actually, the Prowler uses a standard Intruder airframe, up to the cockpit. The only real changes were the addition of the forward cockpit and the "football" on top of the vertical stab. Otherwise they are the same plane. In this case, I know the Prowler inside and out since I used to work on them while in the Navy. I also got to check out the Intruder and found that over 80% if the parts were common to both aircraft.
Time for another clue:
1) This plane was developed for a specific purpose
2) This plane used an engine, built under license, developed by an ally
3) This plane was armed with only one gun and explosive ordinance
4) This plane was intended to be used in stealthy operations

Okay Porcia, I think I can handle "mor hintz". BTW, the F3D is not it either.

Not the 322 though you are slightly warmer. Time for another clue that may start to narrow this one down:
1) This plane was developed for a specific purpose
2) This plane used an engine, built under license, developed by an ally
3) This plane was armed with only one gun and explosive ordinance
4) This plane was intended to be used in stealthy operations

6) This plane's base did not have a flight deck

Aichi M6A1
1.Designed to be carried and launched by submarine.
2.Used license-built version of German DB-601.
3.Armed with one 13mm MG and gravity bombs.
4.You don't get much more stealthy than a submarine.
5.See #1.
6.It had launching rails.
One example survives in the National Air and Space Museum collection of the Smithsonian.

No flight deck and the license-built engine were what sparked my memory. I saw something on this Aichi awhile back, and I guess I just remembered it because it was so weird. Also one of the rare examples of a Japanese airplane with an inline engine. I'll start thinking about a question.
My Feedback: (8)
1. This warbird never saw combat in it's intended role, though some were lost to hostile action.
2. When introduced, it was among the fastest military aircraft of it's time.

No, but closer than you think. "Ho" is an incomplete designation and the spelling is "Horten", but I knew what you meant.
