RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

Go for it KC, nothing looks quite like a 190!

Kind of makes me think of a shark cruising around looking for prey. Quite appropriate given the purpose of the real thing!

RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

Well, the WillHobby.jerk on e-bay waited until the last possible moment to respond to the claim. He responded with a UPS tracking number. So the plane is on the way. I checked the number on UPS's website (not that I don't trust WillHobby.jerk) and they have recieved a notice of shipment and payment for it to be shipped, but it is still not in their system yet. I will believe it when I see a big box on my porch and it better have an undamaged, new plane in it. If so, then I will cancel my claim. So, it looks like I will, after all, have the FW 190. Now I really need to go over this thread again to get all those good build tips down pat. And, find out where to get that cockpit kit!

Hey Jl , just received the Sierra gear for the KMP fw190 , wowzie :Dits absolutly first class, just like the servace , I sent a money order last Thursday , then sent an email to Darrel letting him know I sent the MO , well he must have shipped the retracts without receiving the MO because they were delivered today !!!!
They are simply amazing , light , scale and very cool :D

So LDM what is going to be the extent of the work to put those retracts in and where are your pics:D.I think you have been holding out on us:D

RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

hey Jl , you are correct I really do need to post . Let me tell you what happened without jumping your great post with boreing stuff , long time f14 prop jet , wifey said finish that thing , so I put that into high gear and it has been the murphys rule of bad luck , sping air retracts off of ebay --did not work , then air valve leaked , throttle servo bad ect ect , so what should have been done was being done twice !!!!!
I will lay out the FW 190 this weekend , show you the retarcts and stuff so far , need gas engine any suggestions

RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

Hey LDM have been following the posts here and am anxious to see how you lay out the retracts (a picture says it all).

How about the G26 without electronic ignition just to keep it simple? Someone posted earlier that they have had plenty of success with the G26 on this size fw190. I believe it was the CMP version. Whats your though on using this gasser?

I've got a saito 170R3 3 cylinder radial i'm going to install in mine (when the kit arrives).
Dave from the CMP bash said that the performance with his OS120 pumped was marginal so It may struggle ? but I love the sound of the 170R3 so its going in and we'll see how it goes may just have to do some weight saving.
Steffan.

RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

I think the G26 sounds like a great match . I bought a G20 ei for the CMP Hellcat based on the suggestions of Horison and its under powered , I asked them for what would equate to a saito 124 .
I have a Saito 180 for my CMP P40 .
I want a gaser in the G26 range because every post I have seen with the FW, seafurys , Hellcat ect (all short nose planes ) seem to need useless nose weight , I rather add it in power and fly half throttle !!!!

I dont think the retracts wil be a major job , my only concern is the length , the Sierra seem so long (very scale ) so I hope they will fit based on --length of original placement of the rails to where the wheels will end up in refferance to the wing center line . I can always move and or place mounting rails further out into the wing , but as we all know the further I go the less scale it will be .

PSJDBF 01-31-2008 11:15 PM

RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

LDM how did your P40 perform with the saito 180.

LDM 02-01-2008 06:04 AM

RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build

PSJ , its not done yet :D, talk about too many planes and no time . I love P40ties but needed a break so after getting a saito 180 , all the servos , Full 1/6 "Ben " P40 pilot , sierra gear, tank ect ect , I shelved the project and wanted a break from P40 .The P40 is my favorite plane --I have build and Flown the TF-P40 , The Sportman Avaiation P40 , VQ P40 , Gullows P40 , Balsa Products P40 , --I have the Pica 1/6 new in box , and CMP waiting to be build , so can you see why I need to build an Fw190 .
Sorry JL , no more post on non related Fw190 info , any more questions on this non -related subject just PM me so I am not ignorant to JL and his fine build on the FW ,
THanks
Lou
