RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I had a way too big gap between the belly pan and the wing, at the middle of the wing profile. Being made of fibre I don't think it is easy to adjust the shape by applying heat.
I took the Dremel to the pan and adjusted it a bit at each end, and then glued in some balsa filling in the middle part and sanded it to shape. Ok now. I have not glued it yet. Do you remove the covering before glueing the pan to the wing? Helge. |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Evil
The Brian taylor 68" span 109E canopy will fit well. The one you speak of is probably the Taylor 109F at 61" span. Steve |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I forgot all about the Taylor E model! Thanks Steve.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I removed the covering,,,,,, I will get the belly pan to fit one way or another,,, i still need a good Canopy.
What about the flieskin canopy. Look at www.fliteskin.com They also have a perfect spinner. Regards, Eric Schumacher, Netherlands. |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Well my first experience with a perry pump has made me decide to just remove it, muffler pressure it is now and when you think about it, the motor maker designs the carb to work at low rpm and little pressure, pput a pump on it is like putting a square peg into a round hole, you would need to change the carb too

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I just found my Brian Taylor 109E canopy, its around 3/4" to short.
The Flightskin canopy is around the same size as the Platt, and my Platt canopy is too big by around 1/2". I noticed I have a lot of unfinished 109s lying around. Steve |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
So would two bt canopys cut correctly do the trick?

Hi guys i just joined up today,
I just recieved my cmp 109 kit and im thinking of putting a saito 200Ti inline twin in it.I sat the engine in there and it fits ok length wise but it needs a bit of a trim to get the crankcase in,Il upload some picks and see what you guys reckon, any help will be greatly appreciated. cheers Grahame |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Does the platt spinner fit exactly for this plane and can someone post cost please -TY
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
dunno about the platt spinner, the one it comes with is a 5.5inch black plastic one,ive got my eye on a 5.5 polished stainless one thou.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
ORIGINAL: LDM Does the platt spinner fit exactly for this plane and can someone post cost please -TY Platts site says his spinner is 5.5". Its around $60.00. One of these posts has a pretty good pic of it. A Saito 200 in line would be wasted on this model unless you turn a scale 3 blade.. Just my opinion. Mine flies nicely on an OS 108. See youtube CMP 109 for short flight. Steve |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
i measured my platt spinner at 5.550in and the spinner was $50 + 6 shipping.
so i'm assuming that the brian taylor canopy fits the fuse correctly in the front, then if you move it back a half inch it fits the fuse correctly. is this correct? if so by cutting two canopies at the middle post one from the front back to the middle post and the other forward to the middle post. does this sound reasonable? Joe |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Thanks Steve , the platt spinner seems reasonable , I just dont see it posted on his site as "parts " so I will just call him
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
paladin, let me dig up my Taylor canopy and take a pic, then you can see if you want to try it.
LDM its a pretty nice injection molded spinner with alum backplate. Oddly, it doesn't fit his 1/5 109 well. Its too small. Steve |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
what is the website for the platt spinners?ive been searching everything and cant find it,plus these taylor canopys where are you guys getting them from? thanks Grahame
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I liked your 109 steve it looks great on you tube, how come you think the 200ti will be wasted?you mean under powered or just not good in this model?
thanks Grahame |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Grahame -he means too much power .
This plane is light and if its flying on a os 108 ,it will fly nice on a 140 4 stroke |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
My plane topped out at 13 1/2 pounds, and is ready to go, except for the CANOPY,, i have tried to contact AK-MODELS to get a replacement, but i have gotten no reply, i have emailed, PM, called on the phone,, what can i do here, i really need that Canopy.. i did check with Nitro Models and they said the canopy was on back order,,,,, any ideas what i can do guys??????????
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Update,,, AK Models has now got the Canopy on his website, so now i can order it,, and maybe get this bird in the air by next week....
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I'm still to nervous about the 3rd canopy being damaged. My box is still closed, and I have yet to open the box.
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
ORIGINAL: Deathmachine I liked your 109 steve it looks great on you tube, how come you think the 200ti will be wasted?you mean under powered or just not good in this model? thanks Grahame Everyone please understand.....my electric powered one has a motor in it producing 3.5 HP with the 18x12 prop on it. This is MORE then a saito 220 single cylinder. The power is definitely NOT at all wasted. It can fly nice and fast, but not to a point where it visually looks like its flying too fast So...Death...with that 200TI, it will allow you to spin a more scale size prop then a 4stroke 140. A 140 can spin maybe a decent 16x8 2 blade...I have a 180 that still can only do a 16x8 2 blade after 2 gallons of fuel....but with your 200ti you could spin an 18x8...or a 17x10. So dont let ppl tell you the power will be wasted. Its all in one's perspective. Sure, this plane can be flown with a measly 14x10 size prop, but does it look right? No. |
