Oh no!

On the plus side, I finally traveled south to visit my parents and brought the 109 back with me! And its great news a newer version is coming out, hopefully the mains in a more scale location.

Have one big project and one minor project in front of the 109 in the build que, but I am keen to get it flying!!! I think I will get a repaint before flight.

I have been thinking of molding a carbon fiber spinner and getting a back plate machined up...

For those chasing up a replacement canopy Ty's Planes still sells them.

Thanks

dave

You got it, that's great
My one is coming along, wing surface's all done retracts and 4'' wheels fitted, I have removed the front tray for an ic motor and made up a motor box that fits on the bulkhead for a normal e install, modded the exhaust stacks (there to big) also made up a fg full size top hood that is the battery cover

Mike

limodune 11-03-2018 03:54 PM

I am going to the US in a couple of weeks and will pickup a new canopy then, it good you can still get them

Mike

limodune 11-03-2018 11:01 PM

Dave

Are you going to build it IC or E
I am going E like my other warbirds

I think I’ll be going gasser. The only thing that would make me go e-power would be if I could swing a scale sized prop.

also got the H9 mustang to finish. That’s got the DLE-30RA going into that one. But trying to find a lighter 25-30cc option for the 109

Limodune are you also going to get one of Ty’s Cockpit kits for it?

limodune 11-04-2018 03:08 AM

I am thinking about it--it looks great
Will pick up a german pilot also

Mike

ticketec 11-04-2018 03:37 AM

I did one of Ty's cockpits for my CMPro Fw-190 and they are a bit fiddly, but lightweight and look the part once in.

What pilot are you going to get?

have you seen this thread?
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-w...6-e-power.html

limodune 11-04-2018 04:00 AM

I will get the pilot from tophobby, a US e-bay seller, I have had them before they have good detail and paint up well
Yes I have seen that vid I could not believe the weight of the plane, did not think you could go to that size with electric

Hey Dave and Mike, if you are going to be making an order from Ty then you should consider getting the DF loop and guns he makes for the Fw-190 at the same time (save on shipping). They are the right size for this plane. Although I think I was one of the first to buy this plane when it was new, I never built it. My son and I just started working on ours and are converting it into a G6. I know they would be easy to make, but it was a few less things to have to fabricate.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...030748865b.jpg

Thanks I will look into it
Looks like you plane has had a repaint--any more pic's

I've already drawn up the MG17 barrels ready for 3D printing

DF loop should be too many dramas to draw up either, but both would have to be removable or they would keep getting damaged.

A buddy at the field has a 3d printer, I may have to get him onto this :-)

Those are nice looking barrels. The picture I posted before is one I got off the Internet. I think it is the belly of an Fw-190, but it shows the DF loop installed. I'm just getting started on my plane and have only ripped into the wing to make new gear mounts. Other than that it still looks pretty stock.

That's a good 2.5hr drive for me, so I think i might be giving that one a miss..

I we might be able to arrange a swap of some MG17's for the carriage of a spare canopy :D

limodune 11-06-2018 12:58 AM

My one is nearly complete, just got to make up some push rods to connect to the tail feathers, i have done some mods to make it look a little more scale also I installed an e motor and battery box with a large top hatch

Hello guys....in case you dont know.....BE CAREFULL OF THE STOCK SPINNER IT'S A POTENTIAL BOMB!!!!!!!

I dont know if cmpro made any new spinner of better plastic, but the one i had on my cmpro bf 109 had just exploded while engine running and made thousand of small pieces towards all directions!!!I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH WE DIDNT HAVE ANY INJURIES!!!!.

ticketec 11-07-2018 01:33 AM

Coming along nicely there Limodune!

Nice work on re-locating the supercharger inlet to the correct location.

Soooo, What scheme are you going with?

Thanks

Dave

limodune 11-08-2018 12:12 PM

Not sure yet on the paint finish but it won't be a full repaint, will leave the wings alone and the lower fuselage

Mike

limodune 11-19-2018 12:08 AM

A bit more progress, got the motor and esc installed and working, I have also made up a new larger lower removable panel which gets rid of some unwanted panel lines and adds a bit more scale, also cut in some air vents

Hey Limodune,

Thanks

dave
