Winner! Winner Chicken Dinner! (On you of course! ;) You are correct Ernie and now you are up sir. What gave it way? I wanted to go with something that was production and made in a reasonable amount to give us all a break from all the weird, unusual, and failed prototypes that we have had recently. Something even a casual lurker had a chance to discover. Making it to 15 clues I wasn't certain if I had done so.
Sorry to take so long I have either been in a doctor's office with the wife or down in Chickasha, OK looking over a pickup my son wanted to buy. He now owns a red 1986 Chevy C-10 short wide bed pickup. She was in fantastic shap for her age and his wife's uncle is going to help him do a light restoration. The uncle has a restoration shop and he had a 1946 Hudson I would just about kill to own. What warbird do I describe? 1. This aircraft was fast. 2. Literally. |
Okay, I know I'm probably wrong but I'll go with the NIMROD
|
Perhaps the Fleet Finch? Just looking at clue 2.

Well, trying a different language then, how about the first of the Schnellbomber, the Do 17? The problem I see with this one, though, is that the intended civilian use seems to have come first, and may have been a pretext all along.

What warbird do I describe? 1. This aircraft was fast. 2. Literally. 3. It was one of a group of aircraft, popular in many countries at the time, designed to be bombers or reconnaissance aircraft. 4. And which relied on speed to escape enemy fighters. 5. It was fast; fast enough to outrun almost any fighter in the air at the time. |
Afternoon clue. Thanks; Ernie P.

Geez, Ernie. it was starting to sound like a Corsair and then you had to put a second tail on it. I was lost before and these last few clues show me I don't have the right road map
