RE: advice
Midwest makes an entry level PT boat. Several people have been very pleased with this boat.

It might stretch your budget a little.

[link=http://www.dumasproducts.com/cgi-bin/dumas.storefront]Dumas[/link] makes another kit, but it will take some craftsmanship and time to get the boat to the water.
If that is what you are looking for, I am sure there will be people ready to help you out.

RE: advice
that is a little above my price range, would it be cheaper to scratch build, and where could i get some free plans for one, this does not have to be a pt boat

RE: advice
I don't think you can actually get FREE plans.
Maybe, search the boat forums for pt boats seems like somone posted a good site.
Otherwise you can order plans from these sites.
http://www.ptboats.org/ for ordering plans, or http://floatingdrydock.com/
Make sure you order plans and "hull lines"
Building from scratch is somewhat cheaper. I have a lot of supplies sitting around, but I usually budget $150 for hull, and maybe supersturcture, for my ships.

Just want to make sure, there have been more than a few people unprepared for building their own boat from scratch.[&:]
Oh and looky looky, I found the FREE part of getting plans for a PT boat.
