Default Newbie Volcano help

OK, got a Volcano running, adjusted idle, adjusted low-speed air screw, ran it through complete first tank of gas, ran great
Let cool down
now wont restart
changed glow plug started and ran for a sec then died, now same thing

pulll pull pull no sputter f'ing thing
(seems to get a little tougher to pull too)

Anyone got any reference points or tips, checked glow plug, seems fine-as it glows when attached

I'm still pretty new myself so I won't be much help, but did you follow the instructions on how to break in your engine?

Did you do engine adjustments before or after engine break-in?Far as it hard pulling the pull start.
Sounds like it may be some what flooded.Take out the glow plug, and pull start it about 20-30 times.

That will help with the flooding problem.Make sure your throttle trim is in the neuteral position.
Then take off you airfilter and look down the opening. It should be open about 1/16.

Brand new, first tank of gas, started and tuned it according to instructions on Redcat site, ran great all the way through first tank, now wont restart

I think I may have a defective glow plug igniter, I did change plug once to a new one, started and ran twice, each time for a second or two, now wont restart

If anyone has some reference settings, let me know

tried turning low-air screw all the way in then 2.5 out and adjusting slightly from there, same no start got a feeling something else is the culprit IE the igniter so....

any thoughts?

I adjusted servos so throttle was in a neutral position, then it was idling way to high so I turned back idle screw just un till tires stoped moving,
it was spitting alot of fuel so I leaned it a tiny bit (t was still spitting fuel) then it ran great and I kept the throtlle down (didnt rev it out)

Now wont restart (I think the Igniter may be flaky) but any other suggestion would be appreciated

Try this...put it on a block so the wheels can spin without touching anything.

Next turn the throttle trim back on the radio to where it would give it some gas.

If it starts then its a good chance your clutch spring is broken. At least that is what
happened to me.

Then apply the brake and if it cuts off its more the likely your clutch spring
or your carb needs to be richen up some.

If you get it started look down at the carb and pull the trigger and watch to see
if it close's when you apply brake.

Maybe none of this is the problem, but doesent hurt to check....

hey tekguy
I am a newb myself but I learned on this: take it easy with that pull-start ...it's easy to break and it costs a bunch o' $$ [&:] ....well I guess this advice does not really make sense huh? what are you supposed to do?!?! not start it? LOL
well, let me put it this way:
I am ordering the tiger drive right now... [sm=lol.gif]

Tekguy, take out glow plug and see if your ignitor is working. You will see it glow. If not try another plug, if still nothing the ignitor is no good.

Yeah checked it once, was glowing, checked again another time, no glow, anyways - i think the igniter is crap

this isnt rocket science, fuel-air-compresion and glow should equal some type of ignition
tomorrow trying a new igniter and a quality plug

Yup new igniter and plug, starts everytime. The igniters that come with the Redcat Kit are NiCAD rechargeables and dont work that great (I tried two of them)

Anyways what a difference a day makes! Wheres the aluminum upgrades??????????????????????????????????????????

If you find out where to get the aluminum up grades for the front end please let me know. I am new to this also and have broke it a couple times myself. The bodys are not much and you don't have to hit hard to break them. I started running mine in the cold and this is not good either.I have found that the radios that comes with these cars are not real good. I have already upgraded my radio to an FM digital makes a big difference.
