Default got a problem

my hurricane xp its not running right. When the car is cold its starts up and runs right, after about 2 minute and the temp is about 200 degrees it dies on me. It could be at idle or running it always dies on me. That happen to me since my car ran away and overheated. I will appreciate any help thank you

hows the compression does it feel hard to pull on it, if you hold the car up by the pullstart does it stay up or does it turn the motor over and fall, did you change the glow plug? is there smoke coming out while your running it?

yes i change the glow plug its new. if you hold the car up by the pull cord it falls. the car was running rich idle was spitting a small amout of fuel and while driving it was running with good amount of smoke. the running temp of the car before the car ran off the other day was around 210 to 240.

sounds like blown motor, when you hold the car up by the pullcord it should stay up, no compression. When it falls is it fast or more like fall stop for a couple of seconds, fall a little and stop for a couple of seconds or a fast fall, i forgot you have the bigger car so a little heavier than the 1/10.

Check the head bolts and make sure they are snug...I had the same problem with MY 'Cane XP and it turned out my head bolts were loose...that will cause a lean condition (excess air entering the combustion chamber where it SHOULDN'T) even though it is SET rich to the point where it shouldn't even run and the abscence of good compression will result in incomplete burn...

Actually you may want to take the head OFF and check the seating surfaces...clean them up real good and use a little high temp RTV gasket sealant when putting it back together because more than likely if the head was loose or not tightened evenly it more than likely warped when it overheated.

thanks, the head bolts came loose when the car ran away from me the other day and the temp was 280+. From that day the car doesnt work right, the head bolts are tight . Around the sealing surfaces of the head it has some paste around it. I would try to clean it with alcohol and put some rtv on it and try it out again. I will keep you posted but its going to be saturday or sunday intil I try it out. my pull cord stop working. thanks

Clean the outside off really good first...use some spray carb cleaner or something like that....then take the head off and check the top of the piston and see if is are scorched or looks blued...if it is the motor is probably shot...also check the piston sleeve and see if it is majorly discolored and/or scratched up...then clean the seating surfaces on the block and head real good and use some high temp RTV (orange)...not TOO much..just a very tiny ribbon on the seating surface of the block..you don't want a bunch oozing out inside the motor..when you put the head back on don't crank the head bolts down TOO tight just make sure they are good and snug...make sure you tighten them down in a star pattern..(criss cross)...not in a circle...tighten each one a little at a time until they all seem equally snug...while you have the motor out fixing your pull start take the backplate off the motor and clean the seating surfaces for that up real good and apply some RTV to that before putting it back together...

Good luck and keep us posted.[8D]
