Also, to replace the entire thing - what part number is it? 06034 or 02076?
02076 is for the redcat car. Smaller gears for more top-end. The 06034 is for the buggy little bigger for torque.

02076-39t/44t gears
06034 42t/47t gears

I was saying it's too bad the 1/8 scale transmission and bell wouldn't swap over to the 1/10 scale buggies. I haven't had any problems with my 1/8 scale buggy going through gears..lol

I want to upgrade the engine and low end torque on my tornado. I am planning to get an O.S. .18 CV-R engine. Would that be a good upgrade for my needs of hilly terrain? Also which is better: O.S. .18 CV-R or a TRX 2.5? THanks

i thought the TRX 2.5 is a .15 engine and the 3.3 is a .20 size

the .20 is one you do not hear quite oftin... what other companys make a .20 engine?

no, and yes.... yes if you calcutale .15 is 2.5
But the 2.5 and the 2.5R's are different engine. the 2.5 is stronger and turns 50,000 rpm's, the 2.5r turns the same but has a bigger head so it can be leaned out little more and still run cool.

as far as i know, traxxas is the only one that offers a .20 engine. I would take the os over the traxxas engine in a heartbeat, the os cvrx is a direct fit for the 1/10 redcats. the 2.5 or 2.5r have a rear round exhaust and would need a little work to get them to work on the cars. The 2.5 is a pretty powerful engine for a .15

250-260 is good if you really running them, you dont want to go over 270

cool i cant wait to see that video. i guess my crankshaft bearing was weak from the start and just finnaly failed. i had brought it to a track and wanted to drive it but i brought my t-maxx also to try but i really wanted to drive the buggy, and i started it, warmed it up, drove a little down the track, it stalled, and that was the last time it ran without priming it a lot, and even then it just stalls

os 18cv-rx is the easiest swap. The os 18tz-tx will work easy too but you will need a different manifold. with the manifold it would put the tz right at your price range.

I have a sts.28 that won't run under 280 no matter what I do. Most of the time it's up around 300 and still no problems after a year of running it. The temp worries me a little bit, but if it runs, it runs...lol I hardly ever make an engine blow before I swap them anyway. Always looking for something better.
