Default quick engine question

Im having a little trouble getting my engine to start after the truck is warmed up. when its been sitting a while i prime it a little and it starts up on the first pull every time. But when i try to start it back up after its warm i cant get it. whether i prime it or not at this point doesnt seem to matter, it just doesnt wanna start. if i let it cool down for a short while its no problem again. Is this common? not quite sure how to fix this problem.

Thanks
Defm

sounds like a blown engine, how is the compression when its warm, if its really low, the engine is blown, you can try to run it a little richer to comensate for the low compression and it may start better

or

your running extremely hot

I'm thinking running hot. I had a guy kept calling me about how it wouldn't start when it was hot and it turned out he had the thing running at like 250-270 degrees, since they have plastic carbs he wasn't getting boil off at the carb but when he tried to start it after stopping it wouldn't start because the fuel was actually boil off when it hit the crank shaft below the carb and since it wasn't running there wasn't enough flow to keep it running like it was so the fuel boiled off.

do the spit test if you dont have a temp gun, put some spit or water on your finger and wipe the head, if it sizzles, pops and evaporates right away then its too hot, if it take 3-5 seconds and evaporates slowly your ok.
