It won't work. The volcano weighs to much and it will never shift into second gear. Your better off with a 13 tooth clutch bell and single speed trans upgrade.

I agree 100%. The volcano also does not have enough power to carry second speed. It will actually slow down and it wil also make teh engine run hotter because of the higher gearing. Most that have the tsunami which is pretty much a 2 speed volcano convert them to single speed and they are alot faster in single speed. If you want more power and speed get the sh.18.

It pretty much bolts right in[:-] if you have the other trans in your hand and you watch what your doing when you take the one out its real simple to put the new one in. If you do it you should go to a smaller tire and the HPI 13 x 18 bell gear........Good luck

because some people requested it and didn't care what information Redcat or any of the rest of us gave. Unless your street racing a 2 speed is a waste. Only 2 speeds used in trucks for racing is on tracks with a 200 foot straight away. Probably 90% of all races are done with a single speed trans[:-]

You can use the 2 speed if you installed a better engine and smaller gearing like the 13/18. Stock gearing is too tall to pull 2nd gear and letting it shift into second while in grass will also over work the stock vx and make it overheat. The 13t single is way faster than the 2 speed. It will help the engine reach its max rpm's alot easier.

sounds like its flooded, take plug out, turn it over and pull the starter a few times to get excess fuel out of the engine, put plug back in and try to start again.

How come the Tsunami with a single speed goes 40MPH and the Volcano with a single speed goes 35MPH?

You told me the Volcano does about 30-35. Supossedly, the Tsunami goes about 40MPH with the 2 speed. If the single speed is even faster than the 2 speed.............

i would say they are equal in performance with the single speed, the tsunami is faster with the 2 speed on road but not off road, i was able to get 42mph out of a 2 speed tornado so the 2 speed tsunami would go faster since it has larger tires. I was able to get 31mph out of a single speed stock volcano stx.

Yeah I will admit, I put my single speed trans back in my Volcano. I wasn't too pleased with the 2 speed on my truck at all. Once it hit second gear it just looses power, And forget about off roading with it. The 2 speed trans in my Lightning is great. Stick with a single speed and get a smaller clutch bell...
