Since my son drives his Shockwave hard, the bottom chassis plate became bent and scraped up pretty bad. So, being in the aerospace industry, I made him a new chassis out of aircraft alloy (for anyone who knows, I used 0.100 inch thick 7075-T6 sheet, much stronger than the original 6061 alloy. I riveted on some stiffening ribs to the outer edges (they also work as a skid plate for the bottom). And, speaking of skid plates, I made one for the front and back at the suspension areas because he was scraping this area up pretty bad. Those skid plates are made of 0.020 inch thick Titanium sheet, dimpled for the countersunk screws. Also, I made new front and rear shock plates out of the same metal as the chassis. It has worked well so far after some hard track racing and jumping. No more bent shock towers even after 5-6 flips.......pictures below.

Cool, I just finished a design for a hurricane front shock tower. I used 5 mm thick 7075 T6, with some CNC machining done to lighten (weighs 21.4 grams)
I'll get some pictures up when I figure out how to get them out of the program.

Sweet, I don't have access to any good machines like that. I had to do all of mine with a band say, rotary file, and good old hand tools and elboy grease....like to see some pictures when you're done.

Yeah CNC is sweet for making nice parts.
I have a monsoon shocktower I can engineer off of..... I'll work on one, there is not much difference except the holes for the upper control arms are larger Diameter. Do the pins for that use e-clips?
I'll also pull the rear tower off my car since it's once again taken apart. [>:]

it depends if I can get enough people interested...
If I can get 20 people they'll be around 35 bucks each to buy separate, possibly 60 for the set. To make the first prototype it will cost me about $234.00
Same for the front.

Hey Josh,
I'm actually using Emachineshop's CAD software. I don't have access to a CNC myself but they offer machining services. and they're right in NJ so I can go there if needed.
Thanks for the compliments
