Default Reverse in a Nitro

My buddy showed me this last night when we were browsing you tube. Anyone know how this guy got this to have reverse? We have a idea that envolves a electric motor but it would take some work.

Reverse is over rated. 95% of the vehisles we get to work on are cars with reverse that doesn't work and the transmision is stuck in reverse or the thing won't go back into forward. there a disaster.

My neighbor has reverse on his tmaxx. It is a great feature as long as it is working as intended.

Question on that video: Do those have 3 forward gears or are they counting reverse as a gear??

this is true, it's very cool to do wheelies in reverse. I have to agree with that.

You can buy a reverse gear for the hpi savage. it bolts straight onto the gearbox.
it would be rather cool to get one for the tornado or tsunami.

I think we Should recycle old posts. They can tell people more info

The best reverse setup was by kyosho, called the QRC

QRC (Quick Reverse Clutch)Unit
This simple construction consisting of five gears, shafts and a clutch arm, allows any two channel, two servo, radio operated, engine powered car to drive forward and backward just like the full-scale counterparts. Engine power is transmitted via the spur gear to the forward and reverse drive gears. These rotate the clutch gears. Depending on your throttle inputs, the throttle servo-controlled clutch arm engages either into the forward or reverse clutch gear. The clutch gears transmit the power further on to the front and rear wheels via an efficient shaft drive system. The system is unique and quite reliable and operates quickly ensure rapid direction changing.

Its a rather simple system, just bulky because you need reverse gears. Main complaints is that its noisy.
