Default rotostart problem

Hi, I bought a starter box and it won't work as the drive wheel touches the sides of the hole in the chaissies before it touches the flywheel. The motor is mounted pretty high in my Volcano SV. So I ordered the rotostart from rufaster.com.

I ordered one for the VX18 motor, but the reciept and the box say sh18.

The backplate fits the hole pattern on the motor, but has a hexagonal hole in it. The motor when the pull start is removed has a shaft about 5/16"in diameter and about 1/2" long extending from it.

Round shaft in hexagonal hole... well you get the picture. Am I missing a oneway that should have come with it or is it just the wrong backplate?

Thanks for any help,
Rock

the vx and sh are 2 different engines, the vx has an external one way and the sh has an internal one way, its the wrong one.

why not just cut out a little of the chassis so the bump box will work.

Ehroof, thanks for your reply. You have been a great help to us in getting familier with these trucks.

I thought about cutting it, but the motor in my car is offset quite a bit to the right, so to cut it out I would be cutting only on the right side. The hole would be cut even closer to the side near the edge of the chassis. I was concerned that it might weaken the chassis.

no since the one way is on the inside of the engine, there is only a hex on the outside thats part of a shaft that the one way is on the inside of the engine

As far as the starter box. That is a common problem. All you have to do is elongate the flywheel hole a little with a dremel. Don't go crazy, but you remove material from the chassis a little at a time until your flywheel makes good contact with the flywheel.

Happy days! Mike from rufaster.com called and helped me out with my problem. He explained that I did not remove the one way bearing from the pull starter to use with the roto start. I pulled the bearing from the pull start with a pair of rubber coated pliers, put it on the motor shaft and installed the rotostart per the directions. Works like a champ, I am very happy with it.

Thanks for your help Mike, fast shipping, best price, and great support, it don't get any better then that!

And a big thank you for all the input guys!
