Default another broken part

Well I started putting parts back on my engine today(on the back side) and when I put the pullstarter back on it would work. It was like it was locked up and wouldn't pull. So I took it back off to see what the deal was and when I pulled it off of the motor, it flew apart on me. That isn't the bad part. The bad part is when the spring unraveled it startled me and I dropped it on the floor. It excited the cat and she went to town on it in a matter of like 3 seconds, and now it is screwed.[:@] Does anyone know why it would lock up on me like it did? And I am also going to have to buy a new pull start for my engine now. I am just racking up the money on this motor. Figured I would update everyone.

Dude! Did you break a mirror, walk under a ladder, and open up an umbrella indoors, ALL AT THE SAME TIME?

Ive FIXED a number of pull starts,,,, on my Volcanoes and my buddies Avalanche.....
Its been my experience that once they start acting up, they dont STAY fixed for very long....I finally got sick of dealling with them...

You could buy a Roto start style back plate (Rotostart,Tigerdrive, etc) for about the same $$ or less than you would pay for a Pullstart.
If you have a good cordless Drill all you would need is the backplate assembly.

If you dont have a fast Cordless drill, you can get the Whole Shebang For less than $50.... Below are a couple of links. The first one is what my Buddy bought for his Avalanche(SH.28 Motor). The second link is what I use for my Volcanos (VX.18 Motors). It says for the Savage but it also fits my VX.18 motor.......Both Devices work well...

You will also need a Battery and charger if you dont have one. Here is a link for the batteries we use.....

It might seem like a lot of $$, especially if you dont have a Battery n Charger already, but You WILL NOT regret the investment!

I must have done something. On top of trying to fix and maintain my rc cars, I am trying to get some work done on my truck, and I don't have enough money for either. I think I need to go get a 2nd job just to support my rc car, and minitruck habits.

Ok , here is an update. I got the parts my dad ordered for me from Clermont, and all I need now is the bearings and spacers, which are out of stock.[][][] So it looks like I might be hanging it up for a while.

It is rather funny when you think about it....but with all the problems I am having I must have done something to this affect and not realized it.

Ok lets see if anyone can answer this question... I need a diagram or description of how the parts go on the crank, as in what order. I know the flywheel with brake shoes and springs, but then where does the bearing go, and where do spacers go? I am not sure of what order all this was in, so I want to make sure I put it all together right so I don't mess anything up.

Did you try here? http://www.redcatracing.com/documents/trucks-27-34.pdf for the Volcano and Tsunami The Tornado doesn't seem to have a detailed pic. So I hope this will help you. Maybe they use the same tranny just zoom in big time and see if the parts are the same cause correct me if I'm wrong you have the Tornado? I can't remeber.

If you can't find the spacers/washers anywhere, I've got a few laying around I could send you. I had to take some out for my new clutchbell to spin freely so I don't need them. Just let me know.
