Default Hurricane XP "PRO"

I've looked through about the first 10 pages of the forum, but have not seen any thoughts on the XP Pro. What do you guys think? This is the model that already comes with all the aluminum upgrades for the base XP buggy. I'm fairly new to the sport, but found the XP Pro for $350 new. I've read great things about the base XP. I'm under the impression that the more aluminum the stronger and better a buggy is going to be... For only about $70 more than the regular XP, it seems like the XP Pro is a heck of a deal considering how upgraded it is. I would think that it would be talked about quite extensively. Am I missing something?

I'm new to the sport too, but I have heard that the aluminum parts still break and when they do it's more expensive to fix. Either way it's a good truck. If you want to risk the upgrade then go for it if you break something you could always goto plastic parts and they are lighter as well and cheaper. Thats just what I've read in all these forums.

Although opinions vary, most would tell you that the aluminum is not Optimum for Racing.....
The 1/8 cars are Very tough and the Hurricane especially so....no real NEED for aluminum.
It DOES look nice though!

A lot of folks run the Pro version if they live in a Cold climate (snow), because the plastic becomes brittle in the cold and folks break the Upper/lower arms when they plow into a snow bank (or snow Plow...lol).

Good point red I never thought about that, cause I did crack a body when I slammed into a snowbank sideways.

hahahaha not when it melts then you do a run at night when it gets cold and all the snow turns into ice burges . I was in a full atleast 10 foot skid when I hit that snow bank at full speed. Was no big deal abit ofduct tape on the inside of the body and it was fixed lol.

So are the aluminum upgraded parts any stronger than the plastic? I guess it depends on the quality of aluminum, but I'd think that aluminum would definitely be stronger than plastic. I'd hope that aluminum is at least just as strong as the plastic parts. I'm not planning on racing, really only plan to use it for fun in a field and on a small local track. Nothing big. I do like the look of the aluminum.... so SHINY!

Aluminum does strengthen the once weak spot, but it spreads the stress out to other areas. Aluminum also adds weight to the vehicle, so throwing more than a few aluminum parts on it will drop the performance (power) a little bit since the engine will have to push the extra weight.

Aluminum bends, plastic flexes. Plastic is cheaper to replace, but breaks easier. When aluminum breaks, it can cost about 3-4 times more to replace it rather than replacing with a stock plastic part.

I have both...xp and xp pro.....if your going to buy one just get the xp and use the rest of the cash to buy some spare front end parts...you say your new so you will most likely break it ...and the plastic is much cheaper...as I break aluim parts on my pro I am replacing them with plastic

I would have to agree with Kemo and Firebird, I have a Pro. I have had a rather harsh encounter with a curb, full speed. I believe although it faired rather well, considering, the damage was translated down the drive train. If it had been plastic, I would have had to replace more front end pieces but less of the entire buggy. I too will be replacing the aluminum with the more flexible plastic ones in the future. Don't get me wrong, I love all the bling... But I did advise my brother to get the xp and save money and weight.
Just my opinion.

Aluminum is just more bling bling, get the Hurricane XP...it's far cheaper to repair.
