what do i do
1 Attachment(s)
hi i just installed integy shocks on my volcano sv and was just wondering what i can do to make the suspension less stiff, with the springs it came with its too high,i feel like just snipping those damn springs, i waited 2 weeks for these things and im worried that the ride will be too stiff, any thing i can do?:(
|
RE: what do i do
change shock oil
|
RE: what do i do
get some softer springs. Integy makes a racing spring set with different tensions get the racing set and use the lower tension springs.
|
RE: what do i do
kool, also the hex nuts on my truck are for some reason smashing themselves up against the steering knuckle, i only noticed when i tried to roll the truck and it wouldnt move an inch, the alan wrench screws were tight as hell and the wheels usually spin freely, i know that loosening the alan rench screws and then the hex nut will give it enough play to spin, but from having to adjust them so often now the alan wrench screws are stripped and i cannot loosen them, am i screwed?
|
RE: what do i do
No, if you can't get them loose (you might have to take the whole truck) go to the hardware store and find some really cheap hex screw tips, the kind that go in a multiple tip screw driver and find one that is almost small enough but not quite, you can force it in the stripped out screw hole and get the screw out. then replace the screw from one at the hardware store. That's what we usually do. Unless someone else has a better idea. but definatlly if you get them out you need to lock tight them good when you put the new ones in.

RE: what do i do
thanks for the great info, i have a set of hex tps and stars etc.. im gonna go try them out right now
|
RE: what do i do
be careful the thin one break easy.
|
RE: what do i do
i currently have medium springs, they are the blue ones that came with it, would i get soft springs(thats what they are listed as on tower)and are there different lengths and sizes or is it just tension
|
RE: what do i do
Different tensions, honestly I'm not sure which one your gonna want seperatly we sell the racing spring sets. Our racers like those because they can change there set ups. I would think the soft set, but I don't want you to go buy the wrong ones.

RE: what do i do
SUCCESS!!! i got those screws out the way you said, and after i adjusted them all and put lock tight on the last screw i tightened it all the way and then the tip of the bit i jammed in their broke off inside the screw !!! LOL i guess im lucky it happened to the last one when i was done so i wont have to worry about how i gotta get it out later.as for the springs i dont know what to do, tower only has the 40 piece det for 40 bucks, i only want the 8, it sucks cuz the truck sure looked nice enuff with them when i put them on but i knew something was wrong because it takes a great deal of force to push on my car to get the suspension to give, before i could have one tire on a soda can and the rest would all touch the floor, if i tried the same thing again it looks like my trucks trying to pee in the back.im frustrated because i wanted an upgrade in shocks, i know i have to get a softer shock spring set but at the same time how many different types of soft are there, you got a link or a site that sells the soft racing springs alone?id love to be able to go to my LHS but im unsure if they would carry compatible springs. If i have to wait 5 days again for a damn part i might burn this truck![:@]

|
RE: what do i do
tightened it all the way and then the tip of the bit i jammed in their broke off inside the screw !!! LOL They are pretty sweet looking. |
RE: what do i do
Don't take my word for it, but I think these might work...
[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFUC2&P=0[/link] I know that they are not Integy brand springs, but they have the same dimensions. These are the direct replacement springs for your shocks... [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKVZ3&P=0[/link] Or you could just buy some stock T-MAXX springs to put on them. See what everybody else thinks of these options, it's the best I could think of:D. I hope you get it resolved cuz those are some nice shocks. |
RE: what do i do
Those sure do look great, so I hope that you can get the softer/less tensioned spring to work with them. Entire truck looks great btw!

RE: what do i do
thanks so much, i barely got my truck on christmas, it was just a regular sv,its kinda incomplete, i still am waiting for my tbone bumper, sticker set and new radio ,and of course after i mortgage my house maybe a new set of tires and rims, most likely mashers. first i bought all the blue aluminum upgrades, added a header and pipe, i wanted something killer looking to set it off, i was first gonna just get different colored shock springs to match (for the original shocks)but i found these on rcsuperstore for like 71 bucks shipped, i always rely on this forum for compatibilty issues, after getting the approval from the regulars on here that are much more savvy then me,i ordered them right away. i cant order anything wothout coming here first, and of course it feels good hearing those same people tell you ur on the right track:D

RE: what do i do
I hope to get my ride to be as killer looking as your sometime soon ... I hope you don't mind if I ask questions here:
[ul][*] How did you get those lights working, what did you use, etc?[*] Did you paint your stock body like that or is that a new one?[*] Do you have any pics of your header and pipe setup? [/ul] Thanks, and again, killer ride! |
RE: what do i do
OH I didn't even notice the lights, those are sweet. Are they running off there own battery set?
|
RE: what do i do
i bought a kit for the lights, it was like 20 buks, it has working brake lights as well http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=003, the body i painted myself, i just scored and cleaned the original, sprayed it down , and kept reaplying, i havent water sanded the clear coat so its still pretty dull looking, but i m gonna repaint it after i finish putting all my stuff on. and this is the header i got http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSP45&P=7
|
RE: what do i do
the lights run off three double a, , i have never nee so impressed by a company than the one i bought these lights from, the kit comes with everything, mounting ahardware , aluminum tape, plus the have options for dual headlights etc. Funny thing is that these headlights are really good, the light up a room and perform just like real headlights, ill have to take some pics when it gets dark to show the lighting range
|
RE: what do i do
Those are nice headers, they give a nice contrast to the rest of the blue on the trucks.
|
RE: what do i do
Thanks ganja! I'm gonna get a set of those lights, love the working brake light piece too!
How hard was it to wire up? Some night shots would be awesome to see how well they do light up ... if/once I get them I will take a short vid showing how they work as well. That header is similar to what I have - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXBTB5 except yours is blue. Did you install a new exhaust pipe too? If so, which did you go with? I have installed this one - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXBMH0 but believe it is a little long and need to do something about how it attaches to the chassis since at full lock I occassionally get a rub on it. Thanks! |
RE: what do i do
that seems to be the pipe alotta people go with, me personally i have the aluminum redact one, i got it early on so didnt have a chance to shop around, but its descent.youll definitely be haqppy with those lights.
|
RE: what do i do
mini, just a question, what if you cut the header down a tiny bit so the muffler can be pushed back a little so it doesnt rub anymore? use a dremel or hack saw.
