Hey.

I'm about to buy a Redcat Racing Volcano EPX (brushless). It is actually a [link=http://www.********.co.uk/NBC-E.htm]Bug Crusher[/link]. You can see a video of it [link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=8WZIz9wI9lY&feature=related]here[/link] (not mine). That video is on a 3000mah 7.2V pack.

The ESC (75A) and motor (3300KV) are both from Novatech [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6734843/anchors_6788595/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#6788595](Discussion here)[/link]. I plan to run it off 9.6V 3000mah packs. I know it isn't the best, but I want to spend under £150 ($300). I already have a nitro truck - I want an electric truch for playing in smaller places or where I don't want to make too much noise.

nice, we have a brushless tornado and a brushless tsunami, i run them off 7.2 1800 to 3000 and a 7.4 lipo 5000 and that makes it sick, i have a volcano electric but i am waiting for redcat to get the brushless system back in stock, its a great buy!!!!

the next thing im going to be doing is getting new Rims/tires cuz i chipped a Rim... and the tire is coming off..dont get me wrong the truck is still drivable. i just wana upgrade the tires and rims.. lol.[sm=punching.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

I will be buying mine from a company here that offers a choice of two body shells. Personally, I don't like that shape, so once I have it, I will order a stampede body or something to replace it.

ps - although the top truck has different shocks and a different chassis, it is just the bodyshell I am chosing. The truck will be the same as the bottom one.

Does anyone know where I can get shells in the UK (prefereably for an actual volcano).

Which body do you prefer?

Gahhhh i stripped the screw that holds the engine to the chassis
it was my first time taking them off and thay were really tight
any ideas how to get it off?

use a dremel or something and make a slot in the head to be able to use a regular screwdrive to take it off, just be carful not to cut too much and have the head break on you.

That kind of thing happens all the time to me (mainly because I use an incorrect screwdriver). Just dremel a slot, and use a flathead screwdriver to get it out. As ehroof said, it could break the head, so cut, try, cut a bit deeper, try again etc if you are nervous. Dremels are the most useful tool in rc (in my opinion).

I asume he means a similar tool (eg cheap copy). You could try a hacksaw (or just a hacksaw blade if that doesn't fit). You can get special screw extracter tools, but they may not work on small screws, and they are quite expensive. Occassionally, if you get the perfect sized screwdriver, and press really hard + turn you can extract a screw like that, as it has some shape left. Whatever you do, you will not be able to put it back, so make sure you have a new one handy.

If you have a heat gun, you could try heating it up a bit - it may expand and be easier. You could also try with a soldering iron.

yes, rtr and get an avalanche, i would take it over either one, actually out of the 2 i would pick the revo to bash and race and the savage to just go out and bash like crazy.

if you can get a tool to bite on that screw, heat it with a soldering iron or even a small torch (drain Gas FIRST ! ), then hit it with Freeze spray (use canned air and turn can upside down so that the CO2 comes out cold). This Heat/Cold cycling will break the bond of the Loctite to metal and allow a penetrant (WD40) to get to the threads. Repeat this process a number of times and you will get the screw out.
I had the very same problem. Factory installed my engine mount screws with Red Loctite. Very hard to remove and the soft aluminum threads were Toast when all was said n done. Had to replace an engine mount.

I need new rims for my Volcano SV. According to my micrometer, the stock Redcat rims on my truck measure approximately 3 inches in diameter.. The rims in the link are spec’d at 2.2 inches diameter.
I got this link in the forum (some other thread), but im thinking these rims fit the Buggy and not the Truck?
