RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

yes, i am very mechanically incline! the pull start will not fit! the one way is about 10mm out side dimater and the cut out for the one way in the pull start is about 8mm

the 10mm & 8mm size is just a guess:eek: i did not pull out the micrometer;)

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Alot of stuff from HPI is usable on redcats. Maybe the pullstart for there .15 or .18 might work. Heres a link-http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGEG6&P=OW. Im not sure but its worth a try.

what can i use as a substitute for differential fluid? I have some multi purpose lithium grease, will that work? And i thought i heard somewhere that auto trannsmission fluid would work is this true?
Thanks for your help

racemaxx24 03-21-2008 12:20 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

U would be better with grease. I would think auto trans fluid would be to thin. There not sealed .

i cant believe no one from redcat can answer this guy!!!

Ok, the engine's backplate was changed a few months ago to a smaller bolt pattern, you need to measure the distance between the botls on the old pullstart and get the right one, there is a 1" and a 1 1/4 inch pattern.

one more question, i seemed to have lost one of my dog bone axel things which was 88mm , redcatracing.com offers 87mm but there out of stock(forever i think) and i was wondering if the 90mm dog bones would fit?

racemaxx24 03-21-2008 05:20 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

I tryed but I don't have a Redcat. And idk about 90mm fitting in a 88mm gap but again let ehroof answer that.

ehroof 03-21-2008 05:28 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

it should, there is alot of play usually with the dobones, enough to put slivers of fuel tuning in the drive cups, i dont think 2mm would be too big but i am not 100% sure.

perhamrocks 03-21-2008 05:55 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Ya i use the 90mm dogbones in my volcano;)
