All the spring does is regulate when the arm swings out and engages 2nd gear. If you tighten it all it will do is not swing the arm out. Just order another one, or contact redcat and see if they'll send you a replacement. If your gonna pull the tranny, you might as well wait for a replacement and just change it out while you have the tanny pulled.

if anything got passed the air cleaner I would clean the motor out. If that's not the case then I would look at the servo.

bdobson 01-24-2009 12:51 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

thanks ill look at both think its the servo. can the cold affect the servos they are plastic

joeyhatch11 01-24-2009 02:03 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

yeah they may act a little slow but shouldn't have any effect to where they wouldnt go full left or full right. Have you tried swapping the steering and throttle servo to see if it does the same thing?

bdobson 01-24-2009 09:03 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

thats a good idea ill try that thanks i do have other servos but there too big

joeyhatch11 01-24-2009 09:10 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

How are they too big? What are they for and where are they from?

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

Tremor has a lot smaller servo that the Tornado, If you change it out use the Hitech HS65MG for the steering and the HS65HB for throttle brake.........the truck will be gone before those servos [:-]

i got my tornado out after a few months and the pull start would not budge on it. If any one has any ideas on it i sure would apprecaite it.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

First see if you can turn the flywheel by hand. If not then it might be the piston is seized. It's not a huge deal to disassemble & reassemble a nitro engine if you pay attention to how things came apart. Clean everything and see how you go

When you remove the pull start, don't let the spring uncoil or the pull start cord to come out - it's a pain to reassemble.

ok thanks i will try that

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

Can anyone suggest me a engine torquey enough to do wheelies with the red cat?? someone said a traxxas 3.3 will work but if i could find a powerful enough .18 small block possibly with screw carb that would be cool ....... i just don't think there is a small block strong enough to get a wheelie

chevyderek72 02-02-2009 01:53 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

Well these werent really mean for wheelies, A sh 18 would be an upgrade. then next would be a os crv, then a os 18 tz. but wheelies are over-rated, they are only fun for a while. i would smoke you in a race if we had the same exact car, but you wheelied and i had a wheelie bar

clontz_wi64 02-02-2009 07:52 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

isn't the traxxas 3.3 considered a small block?? they look to be a pretty potent motor from what i see

joeyhatch11 02-02-2009 09:22 AM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

How cool would that be if the Traxxas 2.5 or 3.3 can drop right in these bad boys. Has anyone done this or know if it can be done? Thanks, Joe
