anybody else having trouble with the shocks (stock and aluminum) springing back when compressed instead of collapsing and dampening only.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

When I filled my shocks with oil it did that to me to, what I did to resolve it was take some of the oil out, not much just a little.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

yeah, I wasn't happy with letting ait into the shock to solve the problem. It really ruined the dampening. I racked my brain and finally figured it out.

The problem is this; the half rubber sphere at the top of the shock is there so that when the shock is compressed the sphere can collapse to allow for the volume that the shock shaft consumes when it enters the shock body. That sphere is tot allowed to collapse because the area behind it is sealed. what I did was make a small hole in the shock mount (plastic part at the top) so that as the sphere collapsed the air inside it had a route to escape. also, I made sure that when I screwed the shock body closed, the shock was fully compressed so that the volume of the shock shaft was accounted for in the shock body.

Hope this makes sense.

Now the shocks work great and really dampen the ride! ( filled them with trinity 50 shock oil)

I made my own shock oil mixture, I used 10W-40 motor oil mixed with Muti-purpose Lithium flex grease, you would be surprised how well the 2 mixes together, plus I can make the oil as thick or thin as needed.

Have you tried porting that header? I noticed a slight increase in power after porting mine.

Here are some pics of my tornado xp's:

1. upgrade your 2 speed clutch bell to: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR2&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXDHM0&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR9&P=K
you may need to widdle away a little of the upper plate post so the gears clear it

2. if you want more low end touque use this clutch bell: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXM730&P=K you will loose top end speed with this but have much low end take off

3. upgrade your single speed clutch bell to: http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s.../Detail?no=200 or this place: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLST9&P=7

4. upgrade to this clutch spring traxxas 4146x : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go
Will the single clutch bell listed in #2 work without any additional parts? The reason i ask is because there does not appear to be a lip inside the bell for the bearings to sit when it is put onto the engine shaft.

Does anybody have a manual for the tornado xp. I lost mine and i need it to fix it. Or does anybody have a downloadable diagram of the car. Like telling where every thing goes.

-why my car stops running after a time of use, do i have to lean the low speed needle???
-can i use 30 wt for the shocks???
- how do i know if my car is shifting to second gear

the thing that goes in to the front hub carrier, the thing that goes in it, how do i get it out?

http://redcatracing.com/pics_gallery/02014.jpg

oh yes im super mad because that new black pipe manifold isnt long enough for the pipe. when i put my pipe on the pipe holder it wouldnt reach to the manifold.....whats going on?

ehroof 02-19-2008 07:51 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

you may have to bend the pipe holder to make the pipe go back further, there is a screw that holds it from the top and bottom, then it pulls right out.

gokartingbob455 02-19-2008 08:41 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

uh i looked and there isnt anything that is holding it from the top...do you mean literally bend it? or loosen it up and then twist it around some?

do know what i was talking about with the c-hub carrier?

ehroof 02-19-2008 08:52 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

maybe you can take a picture of your car and point to what your talking about, it would make it alot easier.

gokartingbob455 02-20-2008 05:29 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

yeah i fixed the c-hub problem...just dont worry about it......a little force and some model glue fixed everything

this is about the manifold: did you say to bend the pipe holder literally or loosen it up from the screw and push it back some? i dont have any tools to reach to the nut thats holing the holder dwon.

ehroof 02-20-2008 05:31 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

i just had to bend the holder back a little so the coupler holds it, no big deal

gokartingbob455 02-20-2008 05:34 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

...............................................do you mean BEND it, like use force to bend it?
