RE: 1/5 scale redcats

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

i have a small 12" 23cc chainsaw... lol works pritty good. so i have to get 600 or more i have to start saveing!

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

but to answer your question....just run it...just dont run it at constant throttle...give it variable throttle bursts...2 cycle engines arent built to run at a constant throttle for long periods...example, dirt bikes, chainsaws, and weedeaters...

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

yeah I hope they offer em in rtm...I gotta 42cc chainsaw engine just beggin to be put to use...lol

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

generally, majority of the 2 cycles out there that are unleaded take 5 gallons to break in. Never run at constant speeds and never go wide open throttle.

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

We have yet to set the pricing yet, but I can assure you they will be more than $600.

I am not sure where the poster has found another 4 wheel drive 1/5 for this price range, but if you know of one, please let me know.

The lowest price 4 wheel drive 1/5 is a lot more than that. The Smartech new 4x4 models which I guess would be considered the closest similar one out there (although ours will be better) has a street price of about $1300.

I have seen some 2 wheel drive older vehicles out in the market for cheap, but they have been around for years and are no comparison.

the lowest priced 4x4s sell for 700 and upwards of several thousands.

A group of 4wd buggies with 30.5cc engines sell for about 900-1000.

Cheap... but product support???

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

umm i konw its 2wd but the hpi baja b5 you can get for around 900 of the internet. and thats a sweeeetttttttt buggy. i hope these redcats will be cheaper than that or im going to have to decide between the two[:o]

firebird78 03-07-2008 12:46 AM

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

if they the same price.... its still an easy choice...4wd redcat..lol...u will have alot more control...plus ummmm its a redcat:D

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

and redcat has c-hub :D

RedcatRacing 03-07-2008 12:51 AM

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

Kemo who has them for about 700. The cheapest I have seen is in the low to mid 800s and those have some issues from what I hear.

i would have to say, one of the most reasons i have(or had but buying another one:D) is because of there great price. but if i could get something hpi thats bout the same price and the two vehicles are comparable i think i would tend to go with hpi. but i gesss we will se what redcat can come up with;)

Darin Ive seen rcx buggies ( I think thats what they are called) for $400 to $500....granted they are 2wd....look very sim. to the baja in pics...but I have done some research and from what I have read they have issues...as far as 4wd's only ones I've seen are smartechs and they look HORRID..

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

nitro engines will out accel them...put em on a track and they cant keep up..if they are faster top end then a hurricane its not by much...and u would have to go along ways before they ever caught up

RE: 1/5 scale redcats

This is going to be a very interesting year for 1/5 scale. As many of you know I used to be in the ATV business and have been to China a bunch of times. For those of you that remember the following, you will see where I am going with it.

About 5 years ago, every corner store was selling those little gas powered kick scooters. They became saturated in the market, laws were passed to prevent people from riding them and they went away for the most part.

After that we saw the mini gas powered pocket bikes. Same thing happened. Everyone sold them until the fad went away.

Next was the kids ATV's. That was a great biz when I had it, but about the time I sold it, that market as well started to become saturated where pretty much everyone was selling them. You are starting to see the tail end of the kids atvs on every corner.

So whats next. Well, I can tell you. I am seeing it. I am seeing old ATV factories I used to visit in China start to make them. Its 1/5 scale RC products.

What I have seen happening is the factories in certain provinces will turn on a dime, and change their business based on what they think is hot or what they think will be. Most of these same factories that are ramping up for 1/5 scale cars previously did and or still do the kick scooters, pocket bikes and atvs.

So whats the point of all of this?

Bottom line is you will see 20-30 additional brands of 1/5 scale vehicles popping up all over the place. We are already seeing some of it, but the real craziness has not even began.

2 weeks ago I was quoted on a Baja 100% copy with 100% exact same parts or so they claim. It wont end until the market changes and the demand for them goes away.

The sad thing is, there will be a lot of crap imported and a lot of crap sold without parts or any support for that matter.

It should be fun!

I have seen some knock off HPI buggies sell on ebay in the $450-600 new. All of the 1/5th scale videos I have seen on youtube make them look severely underpowered. I would be looking at something other then a 23cc for these. You can get much faster engines for a little more. I would like to see what these Redcats 1/5ths have to offer.
