Kevin,
The race venue is still to be determined, however I can tell you that it will not be at Bennett or the North Field. The layout of Bennett won't handle the race course and the North field has several restrictions that I don't think we will be able to overcome. It will probably be at the El Dorado dry lake but stay tuned as there are a few things in the works at the moment for a better location. I should know more within the next week or so.

That is a bummer. The north field is a nice field. It has been about 3 years since I have flown there, but I know the housing was approaching fast. I flew there about a dozen times a year with my pops who flew there.
Let me know. Maybe I can get some of our local boys to travel to Vegas and drop off the women!!!

Yeah, it is a bummer. It would be good to try and do something at one of the local fields, but we'll see what transpires. It would be great to get some of you guys down here, there has been a good amount of interest so far and if all pans out like I am hoping, it should be a great event.
Funny, alot of guys go to Vegas to "pick up" the women...

I would say ElDorado would be a great place to race.
I have been to 2 USRA races on a lake bed and I like it. Yes it can be a bit dusty. But the advantages are enormous. With 2.4. if the race promoter allows, there can be more tolerance for planes in the air simultaneously. Like I said if the promoter allows.
There are no restrictions to noise, time limits or runway space. We can race all day. Dead sticks are non-issues. Wind is a non-issue.
We even did some nite flying at Rabbit last year, even RC Car Drag racing, and actually got to camp right on the lake bed in trailers, fifth wheels and big motorhomes. It was like a circus of activity.
The fellowship was awesome to say the least.
Where ever the race is, it will be a great race.
Id like to know if we could bring motorhomes and camp out right there? (If it pans out to this location)

Very cool! Have we finally found a way to get us all together? I know one thing, one Vegas race a year will not be enough.

I dont know if I can afford more than one Vegas Race.
Days off work
Travel expenses
Race Planes
Give the girlfriend enough money to keep quiet and busy
and the Strip clubs... I am in trouble.

I've been checking the weather report here in So Cal and it is like an 80% chance of rain pretty much everywhere and 20MPH winds here in the high desert. Sure wish I was going to Tucson this weekend. Partly cloudy and 6 MPH winds. Should be a great kick-off for the start of our warbird season. I hope some of you who make it can take some pics so we can all enjoy it.

Let me tell you Northern California is no picnic either. I have not seen a good sunny weeked since 2009, and that ain't a lie. The club field here is like walking on a sponge and we will be lucky if it does not rain Sunday, and more rain is on the way. I have been wanting to practice or just fly in general, but I think this weekend and next is a wash. It is starting to piss me off.

Hey Jake! last Sunday was epic here in the Gold Country! Must be a little soggier on the coast range, huh? Got my Zero going on some full throttle runs, and the UCan do with a os 110a is back in action. Miss ya dude! EC

We've been pretty fortunate here in the high desert. Our club field is built on a leach field so the water soaks in right away. As soon as it stops, we will be able to fly again. They are flying in Tucson as I type this. Feeling a little envious right now. I just finished building what I hope will be a good gold plane. I won't know for sure until I get a chance to fly it.
