Dave, I'm on the fence about Fresno. Right now I would have to say most likely. There is an IMAC event the same weekend and at this point I have not flown the entire unlimited sequence. Even if I do get it memorized and practice the best I can hope for is to go compete against 3 maybe 4 other pilots. I'm going to practice the next couple weeks and then make the call but I am leaning towards racing.

I will also take a photo of the current progress of MAII so you can see how much I have left to do.

Ihave had zero opportunities to do anything with airplanes, but sunday I got to slip away for a couple hours. Iopened one of the new World Models Hawker Tempest. I should have not opened it. Now I have to explain to the wife why there is a new colored airplane in the garage..LOL

This is going to be for the stock 75 Warbird class and the Silver SAM/RCPRO races.

Hi Kevin,

I like the look of the Tempest.

I think I'll run both classes in Fresno.

Focusing on .46 modified my make me fly better but two classes will be more fun and the .75 Rockwell P-51 you put together is still flying.

Beautiful airplane!!! Would love to build one but that wing just wouldn't work well for R/C. I gotta make it to Reno one of these Septembers.

Well I promised a photo of the progress. Over the long weekend I spent a lot of time working on her and with a lot more time I will have her finished, currently I am projecting a maiden date of the second weekend in March.

Looks pretty good there Chap. Did you skin the wings with 1/64 ply? Get it done so I have someone to do some practice laps with. I decided I needed a back up engine for my gold Macchi and foun one on Ebay. Won the auction at 86.00. When the engine arrived I was floored after dis-assembly. I amanged to luck out and got a never run 5 port long stroke FIRE 61. I'm hoping to be able to switch from a 10X9 to a 11X9 or 10X10 at the same RPM. Should be good for another 15MPH. Now if I can just figure out how to land at less then 50 mph lol. 4 landings on the airplane and I have noticably worn the main wheels.

I would say it depends on how fast you want to go. With the stock wing, and an OS .75 you would be good for the Sac silver class or the bay area .75 class. With a new wing and a YS 115 you would be OK for Sac Gold and bay area unlimited. The fuse can be left stock but I would suggest some strengthening mods on the tail no matter what you decide to power it with. Even if you trow away the wing and tail, thats still a great price for the fuse. I hate to think how much I spend 100% scratch building my race planes.

I flew the exact plane, it's a good flier handles well but it ends up a little heavy. I had a OS 120 for power with a tuned pipe it ran in the low 130MPH range, not exactly burning up the sky.
For $99.00 thats a great deal

Very clean looking. Last October Verano had a WM Mustang very simular running a 115. Don't think he was doing anything close to 170.

This is identical to Verano's plane and it is a 170 plane. Ran a 1:16 in Tucson with a 115. He asked me if I wanted the 115 when he had them and I opted to stick with my 110 mod. It can swing a 13x13.5 with ease and at lower altitude I may try the 14x14n.
Right at 7lbs.
