And here is yet another beautiful Italian design that would be a nice racer.

Look for the Mig 7. Really cool. In fact a Q40 design was approved by the NMPRA. I think it was a Bob Wallace design. This idea made larger would be a very fast airframe. High aspect ratio, good for the turns. Sorry, I do not have any pics.

See snickersons post on previous page for the I-220 he has built and flown in the past.

Easy there Jake. Don't go makin' fun of my mid life crisis.

And if you think about it, Ferrari never made any WWII fighters now did they?
So ya know, I'm just sayin'......
Wouldn't it be nice to have a license plate frame that read "My other Fiat is a G.55" on my little Spider, and have it be TRUE! [8D]

A Spider is not an insect, it is an arachnid.
You belly scoop stroker.

While we're at it.
I need one of these Dorniers sized for a couple of YS70's

And for those that must have a pasta wagon, The Reggiane 2005 offers another viable choice.

Got one on the drawing board at 518 Sq's

The engine is mounted at an inverted 45 degree angle between the H-stab and V-stab.
I have the 80" Al Masters version about 70% complete in my garage. I got it from another builder in that state.
Here is a video of one in the size range I think might work great for our racing.
I'm thinking a YS1.15 up front and a YS.70 at the rear......
In spite of the annoying sounding two strokes on the one in the vid, it seems to have real nice speed capability.

So Tommy, what wood the wing area need to be on what you are proposing?????

Tommy_Gun 04-18-2011 12:07 PM

RE: Most streamlined WW2 Fighter?

Based on the rules:
Multi Engine Displacement/Wing Area Table:

2cycle 4 cycle Wing Area sq.in
1.00 1.50 500
1.22 2.00 600
1.40 2.50 700
1.60 3.00 850
1.82 3.50 1000
And in the interest of keeping as much of the engine in the cowl as possible, I'm gonna say lets shoot for 625 sq.in. shooting from the hip.
That's less wing area than my Top Flite Dora with more power.
The only real concern I have is getting a good prop for the rear engine.
Waddya say? You build I fly?? ;)
