Its lucky your brother, aka windweasel is an armature winder and is well skilled in the rewinding of electric motors. perhaps he could wind it , But seriously, enjoy the the many wires in hand and all the crossovers that come with them lol, what data will you put into it?

At the moment Im using 5 turns, 3 in hand of .56mm. I could up the gauge to 5 in hand, but it would make for a tight wind. I have only run on 3 cells at 40A for test but I can't wait to test on 10s when the speedy arrives I may need to change the data for 10s.[img][/img][img][/img]

Well, the Pully showed up and the motor and the speedy have finally been shipped, so I sould see them next week, I can use the speedy to test my homebuilt brushless to maximum output. I am hoping for about 2000/2500watts output, but we will soon see.

Awesome! I'm getting about 2,500 Watts of power from my setup and it turns a 2,200mm rotor disk with no issue and flies well at high altitude (Denver). The twin rotors should do just fine on yours.

[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img] Here are some pics of the installation, I did some lightening to the frame while it was apart and shaved off about 1 kg, I'm also thinking of re locating the radio equipment down below to save a little more wieght. I figure the lighter it is, the more flight time I get

Why does the motor have a spinner/prop nut on it?

I bet its for the cooling fan it will have attached to it. I can imagine the heat that thing generates... not to mention the rest of the electronics.

Gorgok, You are right, the prop adapter is there for a cooling fan that is not yet mounted. This motor is designed for fixed wing aircraft and would normally run with cooling from the prop. So I plan to use a small multiblade fan similar to a computer fan to do the job.

Heli flew in groud effect @35 amps so at 37 volts thats about 1300watts input, so I think even with the clothes on it will have reserve power, The motor is rated for 3100watts and was only warm after the test, the speedy was still cold and showed no signs of having done any work. So far I am happy with the results, Will continue more testing when the chargers arrive so I don't have to spend 8 hours to fill the cells up. For now i'll start fitting the fuse

I have now decided to use helitronix for all the mixing, this means I can remove some of the mechanical mixing and use ccpm, This will make for a less complicated setup, It will also allow me to use a gyro in the differential pitch and should make adjustments easier.

Here are some pics of the CCPM setup, The pitch sliding mechanics have been removed. The rear tower will still use a differential trim servo.

Yea there will be video up soon, I've changed from the 600mm blades to 710SB And have been testing gyro gain settings. So far the electric conversion has proven to be very convienient

Some more hovering action today, I made some adjustments to gain and ATV settings and now its flying smooth. The electric system runs quite cool, The speedy and batteries don't seem to be doing alot of work and the motor is about 60oc after flight. The batteries should give me around 10min flight time.

Cool - and in ground effect the entire time.

Sounded like after landing you went zero throttle and it still took quite a while for things to wind down and stop moving?

I've really enjoyed following this. Almost as good as being your annoying neighbor who stands and watches but doesn't help. Only diff is I don't get to drink your beer

Thankyou Karlik, I'm glad you are enjoying my build. Soon I'll start getting it out to a field with a bit of room and start to transition into foward flight, and get an "out of ground effect" current reading as well. I'd also like to test hover with the body on to check if the C.G shifts and again measure the current. The testing is being delayed a little because its been windy here lately which makes adjustments a little hard[&o] But I'm still enjoying the E conversion, I'm not sure if i'll ever go back to nitro
