Popworm, + 1 on that. I laugh at times when I read some of these question threads, every one has an opinion for everyone else built on his building style and power tools at hand. I know fellas that don't even have any power tools and have learned the art of true hand built planes, we could all learn a thing or two from them.

When I first started building I lived in a small third floor apartment.. I actually used one of those hand cranked drills for a year or so ! They sort of look like they were made to whip eggs, hahahahahah. I had no power tools. I had great fun at the time.. but not sure I want to be that tool poor again !

I used that for a while too. A cordless drill. It was my Dad's, I used it for winding up rubber on free flights too. I got an electric one soon after. It just wore out a few years a go. The gears stripped. 40 years or so.
