Default Need a math lesson

I am trying to figure wing aspect ratios. How to make a stabilizer wing that has 58.5 sq in of area and a ratio of 3:1

Let the chord be X - thus the span will be 3X. The area (span times chord) will be
3 (X squared).

The chord is thus the square root of {the area (58.5 sq in)} divided by 3 - or 4.42 inches. The span will be 3 times the chord or 13.25 inches.

If I had math symbols this would look clearer.
