I ordered a Nitro Seafury and when it got here the canopy is cracked in several places. Nitro says they will send me one when they are in stock. Could be a couple of months, or never. Anyway I would like to make a canopy for it. I don’t have a clue how to go about it. Is there any body out there that could tell me how to do it. [&:]

You might look here and cut down one of these to fit your model. If you scan down to the lower part of the page on a particular canopy, it will give the dimensions

Good idea, thanks w8ye. I’m going to see what I can find.
I enjoyed the photos in the gallery on your profile. I’m glad the weather is as nasty as it is here (it’s been snowing sideways the last 2 days) in Idaho. If it was good flying weather my frustration level would be about 10 on the angryometer. I really want to fly this airplane.

You don't make me feel very good. Last night this time it was 4 below here and the wind was howling. Now you tell me I'm going to have blowing snow for several days/
Making a canopy from scratch is difficult. They come out wrinkly at best. One guy got away from the wrinkles by forming a second canopy over the first one while still on the mold.
You have to make a positive mold and you make a frame to hold a sheet of plastic. You warm the plastic/frame in the oven and then set it down over your mold until it cools.
It is more trouble than it is worth when you can buy one already and and cut it down.

Or you could take the canopy that you have, use scotch tape and tape up the cracks to hold everything together. Fill up the canopy with plaster of paris and let it set. Remove the plaster plug and inspect, very lightly sand down any ridges that might have filled any cracks in the canopy. Build a Vacuum forming box and get a sheet of clear or tinted plastic the same thickness as the original canopy. Cast the canopy and use it. For more information on vacuum forming

I dont know how big the canopy is But you can make a plug of hard wood or MDF or something. Carve and sand! And then cut the bottom from a Pet bottle. Then put the plugg and some filling ( more wood) material under the plugg so it is a tight fit. Then warm it with a heating gun. The bottle will shrink around the plugg. I use this all the time.
