Hi all,
I am currently in the process of creating a 3D model of my r/c plane design in Solidworks (2009). Can anyone please write up a tutorial on here or point to a tutorial on how to create alser cutting sheets in Solidworks or in any CAD program in general.
Much appreciated,
Daniel.

Not all laser cutters have the same requirements. Many use color for different types of wood or thickness. Kerf is also different on many cutters. I would find a laser cutter first and see what they need you to do.

I still am seeking for a general tutorial on how to create laser cutting sheets, although thank you for your answer, I appreciate it!
My school has a CNC Miller, which does the same job as a laser cutter except with a drill bit- is that suitable for cutting out parts, precisely, so that one fits another without gaps?
Best of luck,
Daniel.

It would work, but the inside corners would have the radius of the diameter of the milling bit, and not be square. You would have to know the size of the sheets to use the on the milling table bed.

Try looking at CAMBAM. It has an excellent tutorial that will walk you through the process.

You can go to find out at pages in my web site noted below. Is Autocad based language, not for cutting out via Solidworks through. Have been many-many contact me as they went on using the material cited and created their own sheets for working.

Ok, I see that ceating laser cutting sheets is not as easy as I thought. I have only 3 to 4 months to create an rc airplane of a 90 cm wingspan. If I send anyone a 3d drawing when I am entirely done creating the plane in 3D in Solidworks, would anyone be willing to create sheets for laser cutting? I would appreciate it SO much! Check out my website www.airwayaircraft.webs.com to join my company (4 people already joined)
Any volunteers would be DEEPLY appreciated,
Daniel.
