I hear it is a Czech company called "Flying Styro Kit". They have a very good [link=http://www.flyingstyrokit.cz/rc2.html]website[/link]. We once had a club member who bought a model from the same company and had it flying very well, stable and smooth. We never tried the seaplane, though. They usually do not cost very much and come with quite some hardware (engine and prop are included most of the time, if I'm not mistaken).

Here in Switzerland they are sold through a company called [link=http://www.top-model.ch]TopModel[/link]. In USA I think it's Hobby Lobby - worth checking out.

I am not sure who makes/made the kit, but the airplane appears to be modelled from a Grumman J2F-5 "Duck" How do I know this? Glad you asked. I recieved an email today from a gentleman that has a set of plans for the full size aircraft. He is a model boat builder and is putting together a CD of various designs and drawings. While going through his plans, he came across the drawings for the J2F-5 and asked me if I knew anyone that would be interested. He attached two jpgs, and they are very detailed and would be great documentation for anyone wanting to build this scale model. To copy the plans into pdf format (Which can be printed at the local "Kinko's") he has to pay to have them scanned. If only one person wants the plans/documentation it would be worthwhile for him to spend the money. If anyone is interested, just reply to this, and we can discuss it further. I have the notify by email checked so I should be able to get back to you soon.

Looks like no Duck to me. But anyway I think it's great to see someone producing seaplanes at such a good quality and low cost. Hope to see more of them!

Now I see your point! I couldn't open the larger picture yesterday, but now that I can, I do see a major difference. I guess I was just too excited about finding the plans for the duck yesterday and just "thought" they were the same plane. Sorry!

They look like fun, but in their own write ups they stated that the water performance was marginal - they said the bipe needed more power and the twin was recommended for "Hard surface" flying.

There's a little lake by me that is electric motors only. If I flew my glow plane there I think I would be in BIG trouble so I won't do it. A little plane like this would be nice someday for that lake, but the water performance has to be great.

The bipe is a "Flying boot" by Flying Styro. You can download a video of the boot here:

I stand corrected on the water performance of "the boot". That looks like a blast! Great video!

I contacted David Henderson at Hobby Lobby about this plane. He told me that unfortunately, Hobby Lobby does not stock this plane, and to order one, he needs to order 24. He told me that if I wanted 24 of them I could special order them from him! If you're in the USA and want this plane, I suggest you contact him and request that Hobby Lobby stock this plane. His email address is: [email protected].

If enough people are interested, he might order the plane for us, as he wants one too! Send him a friendly note.

Yes, he called me to tell me he ordered an extra one, so that must be it. This means that we two have the only ones in North America.

There are no three view plans in the instructions. You should be able to make some via the available pictures and the specs available on the website for measurements

I agree, however its simpler to copy somebody else's work. right now i have two many to do planes on the board, especialy the Russian Kalinin Giant K-7, 7 engine, bomber, @1928, 81" ws plans are just about complete. large pile of balsa and 7 electric motors awaits. really don't need a backyard flyer. dick
