Guys, I wanna tell you: Evan is an AVIATOR. He showed up with three planes: A gyronomous 3-channel old-timer that weighed only about 6 pounds, a seacruiser, and a little delta-winged sky-ripper that had the power-to-weight ratio of a patriot missile, and a roll rate fast enough to sling the monkote off the wingtips. You gotta be GOOD to fly that floaty old-timer and then pick up the rocketship and be able to re-tune your brain to match the speed of the plane. And he could take the little delta and grease landings consistently better than anybody there. I got one landing all day that I was proud of, and the maiden flight of a Sig Sealane produced a verrrrry careful and perfect landing, But Evan was consistently greasing in whatever his transmitter happened to be pointed at. Even teh Russian Judge was giving him 9s. He's Good!

Thanks Jim, and I've only been flying 3, no wait 4, weeks, I appreciate the kind words, it all comes from practice, you saw me do around 30 landings/ take offs in a row with the Quaker, right??? The red thingy you call a sea cruiser was a Northstar from Balsa USA, The Quaker(old timer) is my own design, 105" span, 6lbs with the floats and the delta is my own design based on a wing from the Jerry Smith Outlaw. The present roll rate is slowed down because I did fracture the float struts due to the high roll rate I had, the struts are NOW carbon fiber re-enforced... I too was impressed with the SeaLane though chines would help with the spray. Are you planning on going to this falls float fly too? Again, nice to meet you....

Duh, Northstar. I remembered Fast and Slow but I forgot what was in the middle, although you were doing some really cool landings with the Northstar at about a 40-degree angle of attack. And I had a mental block about the name of the Quaker, although I knew it the instant I saw it at the lake.

The KCRC Fly-in was an excellent fly-in and I will make every effort to attend whenever possible. Next-time they are going for a Sanction, and that should get some attendance out. I have gone to the last 4 KCRC fly-ins even when I had to drive 600 miles each way from Tampa. Last Sept, I showed up in the rain date, and missed the fly-in, but I went. I just hope to find out about any other float-ins in Tennessee/Kentucky.North AL, NorthGA, so I can go play there. I don't care if I ever fly off wheels again. I like to fly floats.

What about coming to the Charlotte area? The Smith Lake Flyers have a float fly the second saturday of every month at Smith Lake, just south of Concord, and I have a small group of guys that get together now and then and fly at Ramsey Creek Park on Lake Norman north of Charlotte. We also go down to Triple Tree(home of the Joe Nall) and float there a couple times a year.

Add an hour and a half to your drive time from Knoxville. I can do it, but not frequently.
I "retired" (Bandsaw) the Dover Darlin I flew(Crashed) in Knoxville.
I guess I'll have to put the floats back on my well-worn but trusty Telemaster.
