RE: Lanier Mariner 40 MKII ARF 62"
I forgot to mention, I read a review on the Sig Sealane. Maybe a week ago. I was surprised to see the reviewer give it high marks for water handling, flight and getting up on plane without "submarining".
I might give one of those a try this winter, as I have found Sig kits to be great fun in the building.

I had a maiden flight for my Mariner last friday.
The first flight was successful, however I noticed a drift to the
right when it turns left.
So I had to add left rudder to make a coordinate turn.
There was no drift and no right rudder was required at right
turn. The wing is straight, not twisting.
If I trimmed the rudder to the left, it needed an aileron trim
to the right of course to make a straight and level flight.
I suspect this type of airplane requires engine thrust to the left
instead of neutral thrust of original design, but I don't know the
answer, appreciate your opinions. Contrary to my thinking, it
may need right engine thrust.

Also increased wing incidence.
That made mine be a very honest and stable airplane. I was surprised.

We like our Mariner 40. Its only had a few flight, but its nice. It's the original version, and don't have too many issues with assembily. We have an OS 61 installed. I've posted this video before. If you haven't seen it...enjoy! Or, go to Google Video, and search for "mariner 40".

[8D] Beautiful photo Mustang! I have the original Mariner with probably over 200 water flights on it. The fuse has been completely overhauled including stripping all covering, sealing up all lightening holes with sheet balsa, fiberglassing and finally repainting entire fuse. No covering on fuse for me as the maintenance is too high. I'll recover the wings this winter. Plane is a little heavier, but it flies very scale like. Too bad Great Planes bought out Lanier and essentially put all their planes out to pasture. I wanted to purchase a Mariner MK. II, but missed the opportunity. I'll keep flying my Mariner until it literally falls apart. Maybe I'll attempt to draw up a set of plans before it dies! Know where I can score a Mariner MK. II?
