I have an old Sig LT-40 that I would like to put on floats this season. I have read numerous post on different floats but would like advise on what would be a good choice. I have seen Falcon Trading highly recomended however I can find no info on their company. I have also seen Plane Fun Floats which seem to be highly recomended. Any suggestions as to a good float would be appreciated.

Falcon trading floats are (temporarily, I hope) not available in the US unless you find them in existing inventory at a hobby shop. Almost Identical are SF floats Super Flying Models). Try Hobby Shack mail order for those. Zeedoo floats from HobbyLobby have been around forever, and seem to be quality floats, but are a bit more than the SF floats ....German vs Asian labor, I suppose.
Above are fiberglass, hollow ARF floats. They work well but the can leak. A couple of ounces of water sloshing around inside of floats does bizarre and or terminal things to the plane's flight characteristics.
Plane fun floats are excellent hand-made and sheeted over a styrofoam core. They cannot leak and if you seal them they will last forever. I have a well-used very similar set of BJ foam floats that are 10 years old that have been on 6 airplanes at least. The next floats I buy will be from PFF, but I don't need any for the forseeable future.
Other foam floats available are:
http://www.foamcorefloats.com/ Canadian. Ships to US, Eh?
http://www.foamfloats.com/ Took a hiatus over the winter, but about to resume production
http://users.cwnet.com/zdgreg/index.html Flat bottom, round top.
Niagara and RnZ floats have been around a long time, too. All three of these ship you foam cores and it's up to you to prepare them for flight and to attach to the plane.
