Does anyone out there know of anyone who makes a big PBY kit? I had been looking at the G&P sales 104" PBY, did my research, and had a tentative color scheme planned. Most importantly I have the OK from the boss(wife) to order the kit, retracts and 2 brand new Saito 125's for power!! I have been trying to contact Bill Price for weeks by various methods all to no avail, apparently he's taking a break from kit building according to some. I REALLY want to build this plane this winter, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I am going to be building the Novack 108 inch PBY. But if I start another build right now I will be beaten severely by my boss. I think 5 current projects is enough. But I will build one someday. There are 2 different short kit suppliers for this one. Maybe more. You will have to get the plans and plastic parts from Fred Novack at http://www.vintagercplans.com/main.htm
I am building the JU-52 from Lazer Works right now and I am very happy with the laser cut parts. A good price too.
http://www.precisioncutkits.com/instock.html No prices listed ....gotta contact them to ask
http://lazer-works.com/main.html $ 180
Good luck with the build.

I have a set of the plans from Fred Novak (Vintage RC Plans) and will be glad to make them available. It's looking at these plans that allowed me to be comfortable using Bill Price (G&P Sales) as the kit manufacturer for the G&P Sales 104" PBN I built. Extremely happy with the experience with the G&P Sales kit quality.

Hey Newc,
Are the plans from Novac bad? Just not drawn well, or just not to your needs? I have heard that they were decent plans and would like to build them. Pictures looked good online.
I would be interested if you want to unload your set. I have not started that project yet. But I do want to do it soon. Gotta get it up and ready before next flying season. Thanks.

No, the plans from Fred are certainly not bad. In fact, they are very well done. When I bought the plans from Fred I was living about 20 miles from him in Michigan so I went to his house to pick the plans up and had a chance to see a Catalina he had built from the plans and it turned out well. The plans were just a bit more than I cared to tackle at the time and then I saw Bill Price's kit with the fiberglass fuselage and decided to go that way instead of using Fred's plans. I just looked at the plans for the first time in a few years and they are as new as when he sold them to me right after he ran the blueprints 3 sheets of plans and one of supplemental parts. Let me know if you want them.
